Hi,

I was driving my MK4 Golf and the engine workshop light came on the dashboard. I did a quick check with VCDS and this was the fault code below:

1 Fault Found:
16955 - Brake Switch (F): Implausible Signal
P0571 - 35-00 - -

Anyone have any ideas what this could be and how to fix please? The car was ok afterwards it was driving fine.

Thanks

I get where you're coming from in that an engine workshop message doesn't seem the most obvious fault indicator for a faulty brake light switch, but this problem is ridiculously common on a mk4 and has been covered thousands of times.

It's easy to get over paranoid about it, but just sit back and be grateful that it's likely only a 10 minute fix, and perhaps actually listen to the advice given.
