Howdy, so when i bought the car, was loosing a bit of coolant, but hey, was very cheap so was not too bothered, stuck some radweld in it, and it solved it.
Last weekend however, was out on a drive, and the temp just started to climb, very quickly. so pulled over right away, checked coolant level, and there was none, fortunately, i always have a big bottle of water with me on a drive, and was right near home, so let it cool down a good bit, got the water in and took it very easy getting home. The next day, i get some water in it, and looked underneath, and it just pours out, like ALOT of pouring out, without turning on the engine, so as i needed to use it, i put some radweld in it to see if that would get it, just for like a week or so, but nothing, didn't even slow it down. The head gasket needed changing and after some research, found it COULD possibly be that (never had a head gasket go before, so wasn't sure on the amount of water loss would show that), so had that changed, but nothing, still a massive leak. After further inspection, found it to be leaking at what seems to be the bottom pulley, i cant veiw it properly though, now i'm guessing the water pump is gone, but cant check it at the min as its in my mate's, but i don't wanna spend ÂŁ60 on it if it turns out to not be that.
Also, i am mechanistically minded, and do most work myself, but I mostly work n bikes, and a lot of bikes are air cooled, so not too good with coolant systems, but trying too learn as i go.
Just looking for any suggestions or anyone else s input, and if not the water pump, what else could it be.
Cheers, Al (sorry for the essay)
