big thank you to NooNoo as without that guide I would have paid a fortune to replace the exhaust manifold and the turbo. I carried out the work outside my house on the street, I think I could do it in 3-4 hours second time around.

My problem was the dripping water feed, it kept dripping for 6 hours, I am not kidding. Couple of them went in straight in my eye and mouth.

Other issue was taking the bolts off the after market exhaust manifold, 4 bolts = 3 hours, again, no kidding.

I used WD Fast release for the bolts. None stripped or broke.

Seized 2 of the 3 turbo bolts as I used the wrong bolts (bad advice from a mechanic when I bought the exhaust manifold), those were the black torx ones with 11.4 strength (I think)

I also discovered the silicone TIP was not properly installed, shame on my mechanic again.

The whole trick is to undo the turbo so you can move it around and reach for a couple of the exhaust manifold bolts. Did not remove the water feed from the engine.

The work was done on my Octavia mkI, AUM engine code.

Keep up the good work!

Glad it went OK. Once you've done it once a full morning should get it done next time.

I do elude to draining the coolant properly from the tap but hey I think people like the idea of purple showers.

I guess the complete suite of spare studs/nuts/bolts assisted here?

:)
