When you say hybrid do you mean you have had it's internals changed or do you mean it has the strange silencer? Or both?

[:)]

exhaust side has been changed /flowed.

but the Elbow from Forge from charge pipe -> turbo intercooler inlet side wont fit. (too small on one end).

So one side fits, other side is too small.

And no silencer on my car, sounds like a freakin jet on boost.

good guide.

Having read it, I'm almost certain you've named the coolant feed and return the wrong way around. I reckon the return is on the front of the block, going down under the inlet mani to the water pump inlet. And the Coolant feed is from the back of the block from the output of the waterpump (internally fed).

Does anyone agree. It makes no difference when doing this conversion....But I need to know!

Hi mate,

Yeah I did wonder that, but I thought it would be odd to take a feed from the block itself having already been "heated". It was more logical the hose/metal pipe was the feed...

I think you are right though it makes sense that it's close to the water pump. As you say, for the turbo swap it makes no difference.

Pleased it helped [:)]

I presume everything went smoothly? I've considered rivising it a little but it's good enough in most areas I think!

Yes, comes out reasonably easily without removing the driveshaft. Just a bit of manipulation. Really not worth removing the offside driveshaft, just making additional work for yourself :)

You have to twist it about a bit and have the downpipe out the way but it's pretty easy. The k03 and k03s are the same size within a gnats whisker! :)

Tried using this guide at a breakers for 3 hours in rain standing on a bonnet reaching into the golfs engine bay that was ontop of another car! Wasnt easy. Still didnt get it out! Next attempt tuesday. Most stuffs out just the car is now on the ground with not even a gap a rizzla would fit under. Still got the return pipes and the 3 bolts holding it to the manifold to go. Might remove engine mounts and shuffle it forward completley??

Wow that's keen Jazzle, never seen such determination for a k03s [Y]

You'd almost be best just to hacksaw through the coolant/oil feeds/returns. You can always fit you k03 pipes...

Metal filings could contaminate though so you would have to be careful...

If I've read right you've done this without access to the underside [:S]

Good luck mate and get us some [^^]

Arent the k03 and k03s turbo outlet pipes slightly different?
Nope.

There are variants of both I believe that have a silencer but most I've seen are identical and do not have the silencer.

I couldn't tell you if the silenced variants use the same right angle hose to connect to the charge pipe...

Ko3s out now! Well i think its a ko3s! Its from an AUM but the turbo says ko3. I had the remove the feed pipes and 3 bolts and it was out. Well after i removed an engine mount and 17 cuts later. At least i no what to do when doing my own now! Woooo

An AGU right angle hose off the k03s turbo outlet???

That worries me as I used my AGU hose... (as seen in this 'how to').

Will dig out some 'hi def' images of the turbos side by side.
