I suffered this until I changed the weatherstrips that aqttach to the roof. I also noticeed when changing them that the black silicon putting sealing the windscreen had all but dissapeared.

I re-sealed the windscreen and changed the seals as well. Now I get no ice on the inside and my doors do not stick shut on cold days.

For your problem, just the silicone might be enough as the weatherstrips are ÂŁ65 per side.

I scrape ice off at half 5 in the morning for my journey to work, if they say anything tell them to funk off, It's called living in the real world and working for a living! If they get woken up by a car on tickover then they're obviously not tired enough! and / or very sad people who like to stick their noses in other peoples lives!

I had some on my screen too thinks it's due to getting the car nice and warm inside but anything you have carried in the car wet wise just sits in the mats and carpet and comes out once it all starts getting cold and mists up the screen which then freezes

I have gone to change my vents closed and hit hte recirc button before i got out tonight

I found that the top edges of both sides of the windscreen were not sealed properly. Basically, the black silicon had turned to mush (probably caused by years of rain and car washing. I could almost poke a screwdriver through the gap and into the inside (the only thinkg stopping it was the rubber seal the windscreen sits on.

In terms of resealing it, I used some loctite black silicone from halfords. Thankfully, I only needed to do about 3 inches at the top of each windscreen.

If you need to reseal the whole thing, I personally think it is a specialist job and you should try and get the screen replaced on your insurance.

I reckon however it is only the sides that need resealing in the majority of cases. If it is too large a gap to fill using the loctite tube, just get some windscreen sealent in a carttridge that can be used with a caulking gun.

Just put it on, smooth with a knife or somethig similar and allow it to set for a couple of hours before putting the rubber seal back in place.

Yeah i get that also, quite often too! I've got a KA for a courtesy car atm, sometimes the inside of the front side windows freeze ever so slightly.

None of my other cars have done this, so i blame the KA [N] they've not really got any insulation to be fair.

But ill try closing the vents tonight and see if that does anything, but when there closed there still kind of open so doubt it'll make a difference!

I have a 2007 GTI.In this cold weather i've been getting ice on the interior of the windscreen. The car has climatronic controls. To cure the problem-there's nothing wrong with my seals, heating etc-i suggest the following. With the ignition on ,press the recirculation button when you leave the car overnight and secondly as an added precaution manually close the vents.Problem solved. You've simply got to stop fresh air entering the vehicle and freezing.
