I personally run a 249hp ARL but in answer to your question it is possible shopping list would include

Bigger nozzles

Big turbo

FMIC

Block Girdle

Most probably either an 11 or 12mm fuel pump

remap

brakes

clutch

suspension

A lot of research is recommended when chasing big numbers on a TDI, I'd get over to TDIClub as the yanks have more experience getting big numbers out of the mechanical injection engines

Not now I use the train to get to work. @Bobby_Singh used to run his 300hp arl as daily.
Many of the big numbers mechanical tdi cars in the US have big mileages. The critical thing will be your tune and the quality of the parts you use. Forgot to mention you most probably will need a better headgasket and head bolts.

Still it all seems pretty easy if I'm honest I do look after my cars and bike quite well also have a tuner in mind he does mainly jap stuff but has done many modded diesels one being a mondeo st tdci with bigger injectors stage 3 hybrid turbo and intercooler that was 240 bhp on what he said was a comfortable map for it

Provided you get a good block girdle and the map doesn't try to be a dyno Queen you will be fine. If you try to produce too much low down torque you could split the bottom of the block.

Just a quick question, what's a block girdle in other words? (poor english dictionary skills)

As for the torque it's because of the vibration I assume? I've heard of people having crankshaft split after changing to single mass fly because of the vibration

The ALH block isn't as strong as the PD versions with the ARL one being the strongest as it has an extra web in the casting over the 130pd unit. Though I don't think anyone has ever thrown a rod out the side of a 130pd unit. A block girdle is a metal plate that goes on the bottom of the ALH block to prevent it splitting due to the loads that are put on the crank shaft. See the youtube link for a guy fitting a Whitbread one which is about as bombproof as you can get.

Haha very very true it's not the fiddling with the engine that's the problem it's there's not many engineering companies round me that could do the spacers for me I can build an engine no sweat as I've done my bikes and my fiesta st before now it's just all the custom work think it's going to be a thing I need to look into
