Hi guys so I happened to be browsing the eBays again tonight and I've gone across this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vw-Bora-Passat-Golf-MK4-Front-Interior-Light-Caddy-2k-Transporter-Upgrade/152100782363?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D35391%26meid%3D83a237f6116b4693b3fe0835dfd77c55%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D121993319301

I've seen that some people have changed theirs before and I was just curious on how I would go about changing mine for one of these, currently I have got one which looks exactly like this: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/d0jnAV-eZ3I/maxresdefault.jpg

Now is it possible to change my one over to the one I have found on eBay? is it just as simple as pulling/un-clipping the old one and using the same connectors to connect the new one up? Also with the eBay one as of course its got the 3 individual light's one passenger, centre and one drivers side compared to my standard one would my current wiring be able to control all 3 or would mine only be able just to operate the middle one like the one I have now?

Oh one last thing If it is just a case of swapping them out, erm how difficult is it to change them over? (Sounds stupid but I thought its best to ask)

Any help/info would be grateful,

Thanks,

Duck

Couldn't say mate, I've only swapped like for like. That being said, I've got one here (the old broken one) and it looks like this:

With a three pin switch. When I was trying to fix itI was looking at the wiring diagram and they seem to just be positive, ground and override (to make the light come on from the car's door being opened etc.) so I can't imagine the other options being any different.

Swapping from the single light to the triple light is just plug and play. theres the 2 screws youve found and theres also 2 clips with one at each end. Be careful here as there is metal ring built into the headlining. make sure you get a screw driver or similar in between the light fitting and the metal ring and not the metal ring and the head lining!.

If you're upgrading I'd suggest the w8 light, nice sutble mod but whenever I'm in another car at night it feels so dark without the mood lighting.

The cutting wires is if you're adding the W8 light which includes mood lighting, you won't need to do that, just plug and play

Thanks for your input guys so from what I'm understanding if I want to upgrade the internal dome its best to go for the W8 light over the one I linked originaly?

Since their is some wire cutting involved which im never 100% on doing incase i royaly screw up somewere when doing a little search on eBay's for one the first one to pop up was this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/W8-interior-light-vw-audi-vag-golf-bora-mk4-/142015986904?hash=item2110cffcd8:g:d5IAAOSwQupXVJh9

Now just going by the pic it looks like the seller has already made the extra wire which connects the W8's 4 pin into the existing Mk4 Golf's 3pin for the dome lighting, now another (if not stupid question) the price, for ÂŁ50 isn't it a little steep?

*Edit* looking as the "related" section their seems to be an adapter you can get for them anyway but has a "loose" wire which you connect up to the side lights wire in order to get the illumination working, how dificult would this be to do? (Sorry for a stupid question.... again!)

Scene tax. Very popular mod, just like the illuminated bora vents. If you aren't bothered about the mood lighting then just stick to what you were originally going to do.
Very true Rick, just like my little caractere badge I spent months hunting for, no real gain except for sceen tax :p erm yeah I do quite like the W8 light dome, never seen it before and looks nice to do but when it comes to cutting or soldering extra wires into existing wires like you'd need to do in order to get them to light up, I'm never a fan of doing because I haven't really done it before and I don't exactly wish to start doing it on my own car considering if I duck it up then it could possiably cause more problems then whats it's worth :/ may just stick to the original plan then :p not unless theirs someone local to me which could lend a novice a hand

Guys just a random thing but with the wire which you'd have to hook up to get the whole illumination working for the W8 is their a wire for that coming off of the standard 3-pin? and if so would it just be a case of stripping some of the shilding off and wrapping with electrical tape the illumination wire into the side light wire? Just seen a few youtube vids with the W8's they sure do look nice come night lol
