Hey guys, Opinions on best recirculating dump valve for 1.8t AUM engine?

Any pros or cons for certain types? e.g

How easy to fit?

Did you have to buy additional parts to fit it?

Price?

Noise?

durability?

Hope to hear from you all soon :Y:

A Forge 007p, Forge 008p or a brand new DV from the dealers (new revised part) would be what you want mate

The revised DV from VW is only about ÂŁ30 and has recently had good reviews.

Picked my 007p up for ÂŁ50 second hand and then bought a service kit from Forge to make sure its not leaking. Brand new they are just abit over ÂŁ100 i think.

Noise wise, combined with a standard airbox, there wasnt that much difference. It does make the turbo more audible, but not loud by any means. If you want loud, you need an open cone filter.

Forge ones are pretty bulletproof as they can be taken apart and regreased and resealed along with a new piston if you so wish. The new OEM ones should last a good while but may eventually need replacing again but for the price of them its not such a big deal.

Yes they are easy to fit, destroy the old VW clips holding the DV on, swap the DV, refit hoses and secure with new jubilee clips and voila.

Thanks, that was really helpful! I would like a audible sound but I don't want it too loud.

In terms of cone filters what would you do with secondary air pump hose? Do they connect in? forgive me if that's a stupid question I'm a bit of a newbie, and is there a particular open cone filter you would recommend?

Many thanks for your help so far :Y:

Personally, I wouldn't recommend one...

Haha that's my personal opinion though. I had a honda s2000 air filter (Google it, common to fit these to 1.8t's) for about 2 months. It newness of the noise soon wore off and it just got a little bit annoying. Was great when giving it the beans, but crap when you want to drive sensibly as it was just too loud.

I put the old air box back on and immediately the car felt better to drive.

The SAI pump basically just pumps extra air into the intake to help warm the catalytic converter up quicker. I left mine in the engine bay disconnected from anything. (But secured so it didn't flap around)

Not the best solution as I say, but wouldn't do any harm

Cheers for all the good advice. I think I'm going to stick to standard you've managed to convince me haha! and I'll have a look into the dv's mentioned above. Apparently the best performance for money is achieved with standard airbox with a sports filter so I might explore that avenue.

would you say its worth changing the dv for the noise if you still have a standard air box? or is there not that much difference?

Going from the older style DV to a forge 007p was a great improvement and worthwhile mod. Boost held better and gear changes felt a lot more positive.

It definitely made the turbo a little more audible but nothing crazy. I'd recommend changing the DV anyway to make sure the cars running properly, then try out a cone filter and see if you like it and compare the noises.

I use standard airbox with piper cross panel air filter and no complaints :y:
