Hello all

I own a used 2009 golf mk6 1.4 tsi se. The car had existing curb damage to all four of the 16" atlanta alloy wheels when i purchased it and after finding out that they are not really suitable for refurbishment, i set about trying to acquire some used ones in good condition.

I have just had a set delivered and i think they may have already been refurbished which wasn't made clear in the item description, although I am beginning to have doubts as they actually look quite presentable.

Do any of you know whether vw manufactured different versions of the atlanta wheel. i.e without the diamond cut, lacquered finish?

The part number is 1k0601025aj

If anyone can help or point me in the right direction, i would be very grateful.

Thanks

The Atlanta was made with the "Diamond Cut" Finish and had the code AJ16Z at the end of the part number and the one pictured above was the same part number but with AJ8Z8.

Diamond cut - 1K0 601 025 AJ 16Z

Metallic Silver - 1K0 601 025 AJ 8Z8

However, this is the Cleveland alloy and is ever so slightly different...

Much appreciated, thanks.

They are definitely the diamond cut ones, refurbished to leave a sort of brushed steel finish. Thankfully he's agreed to a refund after little bit of persuasion.

Initially he said he was 'not sure why the fact they are refurbished should be an issue' and said that 'the description didn't say they had an oem finish'.

Honestly, some people.

Interesting topic for me at the moment. My Atlantas have all received a bashing at some time, most by the previous owner but recently one by me (hangs head in shame). I've been wondering what the heck I can do about them without incurring great expense but seeing the Cleveland images gives me some confidence. I'll get a couple of quotes now to have them sprayed all over, which means the lumps and scratches can be smoothed in. Also may consider a colour other than silver, whatever might look good with a black car.

Well I've done it, had my Atlantas converted to Clevelands. I won't post the details of the guy that did them as there are a few imperfections which I would have pointed out if I hadn't had to shoot off early leaving him to it.

But they look a lot better than the scratched and pitted things they used to be, although not as classy as Atlantas with pristine finish.

In hindsight I would have chosen a darker silver though.
