ABS Light After Unplugging Wheel Sensor

Hi All,

New here and I have a question relating to the ABS light. Apologies if this has been asked before but a search on this reveals hundreds of results.

I foolishly decided to turn the ignition on while the ABS wheel sensor wire was unplugged as I was changing a CV boot. Now I have plugged the wire back in and the light is still on.

Will this error code clear itself in time or will I need to get it Vagcommed out? I would rather not drive without ABS for any length of time especially with the wet and icy weather creeping in.

Alternatively, have I broken the ABS sensor by hitting the hub too hard when removing/installing the driveshaft?

if the ABS sensor is not damged and everything is ok then the light will turn itself off after abit (well mine did anyway!)

Did you do the same thing as me (turn the ignition on while it was unplugged?).

somtimes when unplugging and plugging back together the connection can get a little dirty and loose contact throwing up the abs light, disconnect the sensor and make sure its clean inside and that the rubber seal is seated correctly

take it for a spin down the road and it should cancel itself off when the ecu recieves the signal, i usually find they go off after maybe a couple of hundered yards.

You might want to check that you havent bent the hub because that will turn the ABS light on, just like it will with bent wheels
