cheeers buddy.....

good advice from all.......

the stealers reckon it aint detrimental to the performance,,,,,but as you say, if it aint recircing properly, boost must be down....

they want ?114 to replace it....

Jesus.. that is disgraceful ! ?114 to do a DV change.. if it was a foge ..perhaps, but a standard plastic veedub part ? Come on .. name and shame ! [:D]

essex escy, i think that the parts man has given you the price for the n75 valve, for some reason the DV, is called a stop valve or shutoff valve , something like that, but you need the dv ending in 710N, this is the uprated one which is fitted to the audi TT,s, and it is surprisingly, around ?20-?25 from the stealer, its wee wee to fit as well.

i aint convinced i'm lossing power to be honest.......it certainly aint sluggish...

i ahd a skoda mechanic tell me that they replace the "faulty" DV's, and then sell them on to people who want a DV sound....

so can you do it yourself??

Even I managed to do mine.. and i'm a complete noobie ! I did have problems getting the hose to fit though.. but that was because it was old and perished so had to do a bodge job.. which in the end held together for about five months! I'd order another hose, the one that fits onto the port at the top.. think it's a vacuum hose.. but i'm not sure, so if anyone has a better idea [?]

I'm not too hot on the operation of DV's but isn't it a vacuum that triggers the opening of the valve? If this is the case and there is a hole in the diaphragm then it will require more vacuum to operate. Meaning that you turbo will be stalling for longer - check out the graph at the bottom of this link DV testing - I expect boost spikes can't do too much for your engine and that the reason you can hear the "dump" is because when the valve does finally open it has reached well over 1.2 bar.

I've just now replaced my DV with the TT/stock one, (from an audi dealer cos its closer), and the fluttering noise is gone, car is now silent apart from a small noise from the turbo. I've noticed it's more responsive, but only a little, not sure about MPG cos im halfway through a tank.

Aberdeengti - from what I've been reading you certainly won't loose performance with a Forge DV, so long as it's a return type valve and not an atmospheric 'release to air' one. Quite the oposite in fact - you should loose less pressure between gear changes compared with a stock DV. Read the DV Testing link posted by Neutron just before you on this thread.
