Glen, I've recently fitted a polo rear wiper to my Mk4, the dealer storeman said they are the same that go on the Mk5 Golf. Not too sure if he's right but the wiper fits a treat and so easy to fit. The part numbers if you need them are.

Wiperblade. 6Q6955425A

Wiperarm. 6Q6955707A

Cap. 6Q6955435A.

He is right, Steve.. mine looks exactly the same as the Mk5 rear wiper. I ordered the polo wiper, it's the same part. It tidies up the back end a treat. I'm certain it does fit with rear spoilers.. I think it's the A4/Fabia one that has problems with spoilers.

Dead easy to fit too Glen.. lift off the hinged cap,(you may need to squeeze the cap to unclip the clips.. bit like a bottle of white spirit that you have to squeeze), undo the nut.. you may have to twist it a little as it has a ring of softish metal that bites into the splines on the shaft and may be a little seized. Once it's off, put the new wiper assembly over it.. tighten the nut so the metal bites into the splines, then replace the cap and your done.

With the Polo wiper, the cap will be a little too tall so take a little bit off with some sand paper around the base of it. About a 1mm-1.5mm is fine.

It'll stop it from lifting off when you use it each time as mine did until I done a search on here for the reason why.

Hmm.. I have the polo rear wiper on mine and it fits fine.. no modding needed.. I wonder what the difference is between yours and mine then ?!?!

Go for the MK5 version.

Fits easy, just need to sand down the cap a little so it doesnt rub on the window, & break the little tab off inside, or the cap will keep popping open[:(]

Mine cost ?17 from local stealer

Ive fitted the A4/fabia wiper arm and this DOES clear a spoiler if fitted, bit expensive though!

The A4 Avant and Fabia wipers are different. Some people make a combination wiper from the Fabia arm and the A4 blade which will apparantly fit. The Fabia wiper, on its own, WILL NOT FIT with a spoiler.

I tried a Fabia wiper and it fouled the "lip" at the top of the tailgate ( I do not have a spoiler yet [:(] )

I therefore ordered the following bits ...

6Q6 955 707A Arm 9.53

6Q6 955 425A Blade 4.68

6Q6 955 435A Cap 1.04

==== ?15.25 + V = ?17.92 all-in

There are no clearance problems, either with the blade on the paintwork or with the cap touching the glass near the spindle ( some have said this needed rubbing down with emery paper, but I certainly never needed to do that ).

I suspect that there may be different-sized caps depending on application. Mine all fits perfectly, and makes such a difference to the looks at the rear.

That is just my recommendation, of course. [^]

Aye mine fitted perfectly with no filing etc, could be to do with the length of the spindle coming from the motor?

Glen 1.8t : Get a MK5 wiper. The polo wiper and the MK5 are not identical... The MK5's arm is longer (1-1.5cm) and suits the golf better.

I bought the polo wiper from my local stealers and on the way out compared the parts to the corresponding parts on a MK5 on the forecourt....

I also had to trim the cap of the polo wiper.
