Today decided to give the golf some TLC . Washed it, clayed and then used the diamond brite stuff to finish it off. Took a couple of hours

It was looking real shiny[:)][:)][:)]

??..

Picked the boss(wife) up from work. On our way home I was going through some lights, Could hear ambulance nearby, therefore took the turn slow. Turned around the corner saw the ambulance coming at me therefore pulled upto the left. (the ambulance was driving on the opposite side due to the traffic.

As I was stopping heard a bang and got jerked forward. Pulled upto the side of the road, got out and saw a Nissan Micra badly smashed up offside. I was expecting the worse but when I looked at my rear it was just the bumper that had taken the impact.

The female driver couldn?t believe the damage to her micra and the fact mine looked as if hadn?t taken much.

Advised that it was probably due to the weight issue and there maybe damage to golf that we can?t see.

Anyway went round to her house and spoke to here boyfriend who advised it was her fault. If the cost is low he is willing to settle privately, if not through insurance

Will be speaking to Chris (VW) Specialist for him to check the golf over

Would appreciate any advice especially in regards to cost of repair

Very similar incident to mine a while back. Do NOT get the insurance companies involved, just yet. Make sure you get cash upfront and a disclaimer that they admit to fault. I had an RAF pilot smack into the rear of my bumper, got out, expecting the worse - very little damage:

The RAF pilot's car was a complete mess - front bumper and bonnet damaged. The Golf bumpers are remarkably strong. He admited fault, a very geniune, honest guy gave me money up front and I was able to pick up a new bumper for ?100 - have it sprayed for ?200. Job done [:)] Will post some pics up soon - once I have it Zymoled.

Not the end of the world by any means.. best of luck with the repair!

Oh and FYI my car was in a pig-state when it was hit, so take comfort in that! lol

Get it all down on paper & photographed.

I nudged a guy at the petrol station a few years back, he had a new beetle (hairdresser) & all that happened was my number plate screws scratched his rear bumper, he said " dont worry about it mate" but we exchanged insurance details anyway.

Anyway, turns out he filed a claim against me for "whiplash & loss of earnings", him & his bint got 7k ea !!!![V][:(!][:(!][B)]

It's that kind of farce which really p*sses me off. at 17, Driving through wrexham industrial estate I was hit head on by a p*ssed up employee of Demon Tweekes, who was late for work, and overtaking a lorry on a blind bend. He wrote both our cars off, and I REALLY DID suffer with whiplash, and had trouble with my left shoulder for a couple of years after. On top of the money back for my car, I got ?1900 including ?400 excess payment back.[V] THEY GOT 7K EACH with next to no damage???!!!![V]

Cossie boy

No back pain today so not going to bother (also the wife) . I know if I went through insurance I could claim whiplash but I feel fine

Carlos

Near Lister park, was going down Emm lane turning onto Keighley Road. Why you wanna say that you were there. Make a claim for stress caused, when you saw my nice shiny golf being bumped[:D]

When it happened I started thinking about my last accident. Some ******* ***** hit me front corner drivers side. Later on he changed his story and said I hit him. Went to court even though his ****** ***** witnesses (2) never showed up. Amazingly I lost the case and he had for some ******* injuries. i know where he lives , and I do sometimes feel the need to go round there to have discussion withs fists[B)].

All I can say is Justice is *******.[}:)]

This time I had my phone with me, therefore took pics of everything including the driver. She seemed genuine but I have lost faith in people.

Sorry don't normaly swear but I am sure you can understand

Got an idea , why don't you go see the ****** that hit me in my previous accident and I will pay visit to your guy,. Give them some real damage[:D]. Only joking

Someone bumped into the back of me some months ago, bumper is cracked along the top. I relived the young lad of ?400 which is approx what it would cost to fix. Someone on the forum (cant remeber who now) provided me with their quotes after a similar incident.

I've still not replaced the bumper though and i think i've spent all the money. I'll hunt around for a diamond black spare part and fit it myself. Just don't forget to check that the collapsable cans underneath are not bust. Their about ?50 each and theres also a bar that goes across and i'm sure thats not too cheap either. It can all mount up if your not careful.

sorry to hear about your car, get yourself checked out at hospital aswell incase you do have to claim insurance, not a good day for cleaning cars, i washed mine today for the first time in 3 weeks, went to my mums parked across the road, half hour later heard my alarm go off looked out to see a car drive off, thinking he might have clipped my mirror first reaction was to look at mirror, it looked ok from the house still in same position, left a while later only to find car scored along the rear door and quarter panel, i feel sick since i seen the car but was more interested in my alarm going off than to catch his number, gony see my mate tomorrow he's a cosmetic repairer looks as though most of it will come out, hopefully.
