I'm going to sell my Gamma cassette/radio unit as I really have no need for it, but looking on ebay, non of them have what mine does! Why is mine different!

My 1-6 buttons pop off via a little buton to the lef hand side of them. Howcome non of the ebay ones do, is my version worse or better than those...Anyone have any ideas!?

From what I remember only the Blaupunkt Gamma's had the removable
buttons (security), and the later (inferior) Sony Gamma's didn't get
this.

My 2001 Gti 1.8T had the Sony Gamma.. As did my 2002 Gti
Anniversary.. I distinctly remember reading in
the owners manual that the Gamma had a removable panel.. which is
why I always thought it strange that none of my Gamma's had this!

There's usually a label on the radio case to identify the manufacturer. IIRC the Blaupunkt sound quality (sepecially the bass) is supposed to be a lot better. So, better security + improved sound = more money? [:)]
WOOHOO! It wasnt bad at all to be honest, the only reason I changed it was because I wanted MP3 and didnt have the 6 disc changer, so couldnt go down the phatbox route. I will have to stress that it is better in my ebay ad!

So, as I have a better stereo than most of you, where are your offers?!

This one deffo has the Blaupunkt sticker on the side.

I had a 2001 (Y) gti, and now i've got a 52 gti pd.

Both had the gamma without the removable buttons.

My older one did have a more punchy sound, imo.

I'm sure i read in a vw brochure somewere, that the removable buttons were an optional extra.

I could be wrong?

I've previously noticed this version with the removable panel; it must be a small batch of certain Blaupunkt units in 2001 cars. I've had 4 MKIVs all with Gamma radios(some Blaupunkt/some Sony) built in 1998/1999/2002/2003 and none of them had the removable panel.
