I always used to keep the throttle on when lifting the handbrake up and it was near impossible to do a decent 180 handbrake turn.......mor like a 45/90 degree turn..

Be very carefull because not giving it any throttle makes the cars arse end whip round very fast.

Yeah i used to do these all the time in my old polo.......... along with ass-out slides, Front wheel drifting! [:p]

Would never do it in my golf though, for one the tyres are too expensive & too its a different league of car really, not something you really want to ponce about in!

Be careful you dont get caught though.

Hmmmm.......like some of you, I used to do that when I had my old cars like my fiesta and such, but would not dream of doing it with my Golf.

Does it actually work then? - how come ABS dont stop it?

OOOOHHHH NNOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Are you guys on planet car park?

The ONLY reason to need a handbrake turn is at a tight hairpin or for a film/TV show

If you need it for a hairpin then you'll more than likely be in a rally car - which have hydraulic handbrakes.....

i.e. your cable operated handbrake does not have the force to stop the wheels at speed unless you yank it so hard you're very likely to stretch the cables

Give up now whilst you still have an ounce of common sense

I was only asking WHY i cant do them, not i want to ! Simply because when i first got the car i was testing the handbrake at 10 mph to see how well iot pulled the car up, but it only seems to work while stopped!

I Dont think the mkiv is going down hill because i asked about a handbrake turn, i think its because of people with cars like in the "Oh my god..." Thread!

A lot of you of admit to doing handbrake turns while you were younger in ur old cars, well im 19 so im still young, i just dont have a s*** car like some of u did [H]

I dont see why i should by a corsa whoever said that just because they assumed i attempted a single handbrake turn...seeing you gave me car advice il give you some.... i think you should down grade to a rover 214 as you sound like my dad [:)]

Thank you for the people who actually gave me advice!

Rich, dont you know that anything that is considered as what young people do is labelled as 'chav' by people on this forum. If its not legal then its not right!

If you want to do hand brake turns then do it. Im sure everyone is guilty of doing one especially in snow, grass etc.

Bring back the fun forum not the boring drive sensible people!
