i currently have a DG short shift, its fine but 2nd is a bit notchy... so am thinking of going down the the B&M route.

Anyone have one fitted? recommend it, are the gear changes smooth and finally can i still use my rline gear knob?

thats the only thing putting me off, the gear knob.

I was going to get my local vw specialist to fit it.

To put the vehicle into reverse, you need to pull the ring on the shaft below the knob up (as opposed to the OE method of pushing the stick down).

Richbrook do loads of gear knobs.

I used a one from veedubmachine (cut down at 2nd groove)

IMO much nicer than anything in the VAG range. Really heavy solid bit of metal, with a bit of a retro look.

Try Psi Tuning they do a shortshifter which goes gear box end so you retain the standard gearstick and knob and they do different % of throw
