This is kinda hard to explain due to me not being able to show you the sound but has anyone heard those DV's that make that carzy whistleing sound? Instead of the tshhhh sound its more like a peeeeooow (Dont laugh lol!)

I have heard a few of these on Skylines, MR2's, Pulsar's, RST's etc. Just wondering if anyoone knew a comapny that made them and where i could get one?

Sorry if it's an obvious question!!

Yeah well im a chav so [:p] lol

sounds better than the p-schhh dump valve :p
Yeah they do mate! Im so bored of my p-shhhh sound now, want something different!!

Is it just because your running high boost, so in effect any DV will do this? Or do some DV's contribute to the whislte?

I know you can get "Dove" DV's but they can ruin your turbo apprently due to the pressure going back through your turbo, they sound kinda cool though!

Can anyone recommend me a good DV? [:)]

You must be on about the Blitz dumpvalves.. they sound more like a robotic lazer like noise and are pretty common on the above cars you listed!

Yeah they sound mental...!

I don't think Blitz make DV's for VW, but i know HKS do though? You know if they make that sound or not?

Isn't there a DV called the Granny Scarer? World's loudest, apparently [:|]
Lol, that?s not what I?m after though. It?s not so much the noise level it?s the actual sound it makes.

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

Although the name does make me chuckle, can just imagine old grannies being scared half to death hehe !!

As far as i know its only the Blitz ones that make the sound your after.. all the HKS ones ive heard are a lil discrete sounding!

Your best off asking someone with an HKS dumpvalve already fitted to a VW really.. might sound just like the Blitz does, but on a VeeDub [;)]

Atmospheric DV's are not just a Jap thing, they are normally associated with all turbo cars, normally except VW that is...LOL...LOL....

I guess that makes me and Turbodub Chav's then.......

I'm not 100% what sound you are after but I have a GFB hybrid DV and the sound has two different noises combined... the turbo chatter noise and the Whoossssch noise.

The noise you are after, is it similar to the Escort Cosworth / Fiesta RS Turbo noise? as I would classify that more towards the Chatter sound.

or the WRX / EVO Lancers as thats more of a Whoosssch noise

Forum member "Turbodub" has either a HKS DV or a Blitz DV on a 1.8T Golf and it might be worth asking him for help and advice. I think Essex Escy gets on well with him so he might be able to give some light on the subject.

Thanks for the advice mate.

I have been interested in that DV for a while (GFB hybrid) because you can split it between Atmos and Re-circ. Where did you get it from and how much was it ?

Also have you had any issues with stalling etc?

Also i have a Carbonio CAI fitted at the moment is it much louder/quiter than that ? (If you know what they sound like)

It really is hard to describe the noise in words. Theres a definate tssssh sound to it but at the very start it theres like a very high pitched whistle noise almost. Theres no chatter to it though.

I have heard them on MR2's the most if that helps! lol

Sorry for all the questions lol!! [:p]

Thanks for the help mate! i had difficulty finding a Blitz one for VW though [:(]

Thanks (again lol!) RSGOLF, i must say your car is gorgeous and even the engine bay is spotless [:O] lol

I know the DV is a direct replacement, but was it easy to fit and was it very time consuming?

Is the DV quite chattery , as the sound is growing on me !

Cheers,

Rich [:)]

Its very easy to fit...

You just pull off the top vacum hose (the thin one)

Un do the two jubilee clips/clamps holding the VW Bypass Valve at the base and on the side.

Take off the old VW plastic bypass valve and then put in the new GFB hybrid DV and then replace all the pipes back to where they came from.

The sound is very good and even people that say DV's are very Chav, once they have heard it on my car, have then changed their mind and asked for more information on it as they want one...[:D]

I think i will opt for this over the HKS for a few reasons...

1) I know it can run on a DBW engine

2) I def know it will fit and its easy to do so

3) Its about ?70 cheaper than the HKS!!!!!!

4) I want chatttttttttter [:)]

DV's aren't chav.... surprised people just don't call turbo cars chav if they think DV's are chav [;)][;)][;)]

Some people class pretty much everything as chavy. Just because a chav has it, it doesn't make it chavvy!

[:)]

Thanks again Kev [:D]
