I am looking for which fuse turns on when the ignition turns on? Trying to set up a boost gauge and wishes it to turn on when I turn on the key. Which fuse can I tap into? 1.8T.

Fuse 31 - Automatic transmission. Present on all MK4s, including manual ones, and is an unused slot that is still switched with ignition. Plenty of info on Google, and easily identifiable with a multi-meter, test light, or bulb and some wire (home made test light).

I ended up using the cigarette fuse. It's always on. The unit itself only turns on when the light is switched on. Clever design. I initially thought the unit can turn on without the light but it doesn't. Only when the light is switched on the unit works.

If the light isn't switched on the boost gauge ceases to function. I know peple was worried about power drain but I do not think it does..
