Sick of all the posts about how perfect your car is and how much youve spent on xyz,

Now I want know what wrong with your cars, and what bodge ups have you done till funding/time allows it to be fixed,

Ill start

Drivers door crumpled and saggy

Fans bust on low speed

Steering wheel off centre due to my dodgy spanner work

radio that wont turn off with the ignition

A centre arm rest that rattles...... badly

[*]Bust low-speed fans
[*]Squeaking noise from warm engine at idle - dunno what this is!
[*]Rattling noise from engine/under car at about 1,800 rpm
[*]Exhaust sounds like it is blowing, and is very metallic/harsh sounding when booting it or revving when standing still - possibly loose
[*]Rattly dash/interior
[*]Alternator whine from stereo
[*]Piece of crap in-dash 6-disc changer, that only works when it feels like it
[*]Creaking drivers seat
[*]Dents in bonnet and roof where some **** has walked over it... []

not that im a perfectionist or anything..... [;)]

I will admit, i do like to moan tho! find it very theraputic....

very poor paintwork from respray in the past, laquer peeling etc. Front end covered in stone chips! so bad its rediculous! Probably due to poor respray!

http://www.aqpc71.dsl.pipex.com/images/Photo-0017.jpg

Bit of creaking, clonking when going round sharp corners on a big camber! No dash indication to say my boot is open (changer rear catch and lock, turned off in vagcom?)

The never ending fear my passenger window will drop (drivers has and been fixed) [8o|]

Rattle from the back somewhere... drives me mad and has been there since day one... might be the centre seatbelt real.

The centre console rattle, now fixed wth some felt, but it shouldnt have to be.

Recently appears the whole car is creaks! fromt he doors and gloveboox... everytime i go over the potholed roads in london..

the suspensions crap and the car rolls too much. its too harsh over bumps as well.

Seat leather is easy to damage, and the recaros are lovely but dont ahve enough fore and aft adjustment.. need more notches.

the pedal spacing is all wrong and this seriously gives me back ache as
i cant depress the clutch when comfy for the accelerator. so its 1 leg
or the other.

The steering is off centre due to the "pulling left" character!

The boot gets a bits heavy at times.

Gearbox can be very notchy one day and fine the next.

that damn hesitation at 2k rpm is still there... appears at will.

oh and its only done 20k in 3yrs, not as reliable as my MK3 was or the Civic and the present Mazda3.

oh forgot to add.. the stone chips peppering the windscreen and the front of the car.

the ding in the door and front wing thanks to some london car parks

the scraped rear bumper thanks to someone shunting me just after it was resprayed!

The millions of swirl marks that just wont go away due to the hard water.

still i love the car for now.. its just not worth selling,. so gonna
run it in over the next couple of yrs before the 333Cd arrives. (now
all i need is a job).

Usual R32 issues for me:

  • Rattly/Squeeky front seats
  • Rattly dash from the hard plastic underside by the headlight switch.
  • Small dent in the drivers door.
  • Paint peeling off a replacement driver's wing mirror - being replaced next week.
  • Creak from the rear bodywork where the bumper meets the driver's side rear lught cluster.
  • Flickery Xenons (hugely improved with age).
  • Rattle from behind the dashboard on startup for first couple of mins.
  • Rattly seat-belt clasps - replaced once under warranty and due to be replaced again next week.
  • Heavily sooted exhaust pipes that will not polish up no matter what I use or how much time I spend on them.

Despite all of that.....the car is still awesome and I wouldn't swap it for anything (apart from the new RS4 maybe).

Lamda probe failure (?200) (2 days befpre Xmas before I was driving up to Scotland[:'(])

Dropped passenger window (great fun that day[:'(])

Jammed bonnet. Couldn't open it, again, great fun right before Xmas it was[<)]

I *think* i've got the symptons of a saggy drivers door coming on as well. (This is easy to remedy I hear though) Mines a 3 door.

Had the dodgy brake light on the drivers side as well. Amazed by the number of Golf's with a dodgy brake light! (No big deal just got to check it a lot)

Things I would like to renew: (These were all on the car when I got it though and are no big deals)

Steering wheel (leather is coming off around the top through normal wear and looks a really attractive brown colour)

Gearknob, again, bit of wear.

Wing mirros - plenty of scratches.

Not really any creaks with this car though I must say.

Car is 4 year old (55k), drives fine (for 2.0[:)]) Had it for 8 months.

Oh and a dodgy connection with the injector on Cylinder 4, that was a VW assist job the day before the Missus was sitting her test in the car. Ahhh, how we laughed - NOT!!!. Easy repair once the guy found it (ie plug it back in!), car was undrivable.

Kerbed my new 18"s after 3 days!!! (AARRGGHHH!!!)[8o|]

Throttle body stuck open and had to be re-furbed

Clutch master cylinder failed and had to be replaced

Both windows dropped into the doors with a bang when the brackets snapped.

Some fool keyed a deep scratch in my roof the size of a 50pence piece[]

Stone chips on bumper and bonnet due to previous owner doing motorway milage.

Passenger door mirror-cover rattles

when i took my front valance off to be colour coded, i drove the car for 3 days without it on......and the inner arch was forced into the front of my new 18"'s under wind pressure at high speed......result.....burned a hole the size of a hand in the plastic inner arch!!!

Had loads go wrong in such a short space of time...but still currently wrong

* problem with alarm siren (being fixed as we speak ?205!!)

* shaking steering at speed - already posted and will require a trial and error to get fixed (bushes./inner cv joints etc)

* my milltek makes a tiny rattling sound whilst idling (tiny but i can bloody hear it)

* my air con is leaking somewhere as just had it recharged and now not working again.

* I need my rear axel bushes replaced due to split

* need anti roll bar bushes due to split, except is an aftermarket ARB and when called to get replacements, asked for a size, dont have a bloody clue the size and now need to put back into garage to get them to measure...

* its not bloody fast enough....I want more power!

Im sure there are loads more though!
