Fitting my lower S3 strut brace today and i removed my plastic tray, to find this hidden in the tray. can anyone tell me what it is, where its from, what it does. It has these markings on it.

VW GERMANY
c2m 301 116 b
PVO >CR<

Anyone?

At a guess i would say it is the bit i have lost.  it goes in you gearbox where you put oil in.  Open the bonnet and look between the engine and batter straight down you will find you have a hole and can see flywheel

Got pics up now then.

Agreed off the gearbox, but don't go putting oil in where that comes from, you'll ruin your clutch.

could this be why my engine sounds really loud? or my clutch is slipping?. i know that may sound weird but the car has seem to of got louder recently even though its a diesel.

Had the exact same thing come off in mine.

Its the flywheel inspection cover.

Open your bonnet, take the big plastic lid off then just right of the engine (where that cover goes on, youll see a little hole with some teeth inside it, thats where its from.

But DO NOT put oil in there, otherwise you will need a new clutch!
