Bought a mk4 1.6, 10 years old, with 98k on the meter.

From the documents it's been serviced yearly, but it's not stated what they've replaced/serviced.

So was just curious on what usually happens in a normal "service" check-up?

Main question is if they normally replace the cabin air filter (pollen filter)?

Smells ever so slightly funky with the a/c on sometimes, thinking it may be the culprit.

Thanks for any and all replies! :)

Services at VW are classed as:

Intermediate (Every Year or 10K) - Oil and oil filter change, 25 point check? around vehicle, Top Up of fluids, Stamp

Major Service (Every 2 Years) - Oil and oil filter, air filter, fuel filter if applicable, cabin filter, 50 point check?, Top up of fluids, stamp

I think VW do a fixed price at the moment for the above at £119 and £219 respectively.

Funky smell might be bacteria in AC. VW do a cleaning and recharge service for £99 or Kwik fit for £75/85 I think.
