Now I would normally say don't bother, but I'm unsure as to whether the SDI has the same speakers in as the GTI as in my manual I have the 'upgraded' 8 speaker system. You might want to check what you have got already because the standard VW one's are extremely good and well worth keeping, just get yourself a nice headunit to give the speakers what they need. If you have the standard head unit in there at the moment, you will be surprised when you replace it just how much the speakers change.

Have you got 8 speakers? i.e. a mid range and a tweeter in each door?

What happened to the 'I've finished on my car now'?![:p]

defo run them off an amp. Depends on how much cash you are willing to fork out on compos? So many to choose from. But the likes of Diamond audio, Genesis, Rainbows are all VERY good makes that give very very good SQ.

I've already got a set of four GTI speakers, running from a Pioneer HU,
and a set of MB Quart 6x9's running of an JBL amp which also is running
2 sets of JBL tweeters. Plus I've also got 2x15 inch subwoofers which
are being run from a JBL 1200.1 which is 1200 RMS power. [:D] but i
just need to get some good components at the front for some more
frontal sound, Also I have a set of Kenwood tweeters at the front which
are bloody sharp.

I've got a set of MB Quart 6x9's and there not there best SQ, I'm
looking for something thats different but which has real good SQ, I've
been looking at Lanzar products because when I saw Lanzars car at the
Max Power show I was amazed by the SQ considering the mejority of their
products are as cheap as chips.

If your lookind at the ?200 mark then go for Genesis Audiophile 16. They are around ?230. Also you should be running fronts off an amp and leave the rear speakers on the head unit just for fillinf in the rear. Also you shouldn't really be running 6x9's with subs. They do the same thing so you 6x9 dont do much. But if you intend to keep your 6x9's run then off the head unit and have the front components amplified.

Focal Utopia up front for me, great detail but can be a bit bright up high although that could be my amps, they will be taimed by a PXA-600 processor when I get round to installing it. Did a test mock up with it just loose cabled up  in the boot and it made a great difference to the sound.
