The photo below is the halfway point to install the cupholder in U.S. MKVs that comes stock in European MKVs ...

Thought you guys would get a kick out of that. [:D]

Which cupholder would that be? If you mean the one with the sliding lid and bottle opener - its not stock, you have to order the armrest to get it.

Thats crazy, I would of thought something like was standard equipment on US spec MK5's!

Guess you must get some other goodies instead?
Hahaha yeah right ... we get the crappy halogen red rear taillights ...

... while you guys get the very cool LED tails with amber turn signals. To get that, we had to rewire (a lot of guesswork and testing by determined Vortex members), install another harness under the dash, and perform vag com. The difference is night and day ... plus I like to use the cool rear fog to flash it at hot girls [:D]

Our cars also came stock with the Toureg suspension haha ... seriously, our cars were way high up there.

I don't like slammed cars and felt the Euro spec springs were spot on. This photo was right after install so it has since settled quite a bit.

As for the euro cupholder, that's on right. The part being distributed here, that is how it goes on. There is only one way to put it on. Here is the cupholder we get stock ...

And of course you already know what yours looks like ...

This is what my interior looks like now ... can you spot all the modifications? Believe it or not, there are four in that cabin alone! [:|]

Ronin - the UK cupholder is exactly the same as yours just an open area with two circular recesses. As I said, you can only get the one with the lid by retro-fitting like yu are doing unless you ordered the car with an armrest.

Would love to fit the lidded version to my car.

Nice pics BTW!

GLI steering wheel

GTI Pedals

Shifter plate

Euro Cup Holder

Euro Light Switch
Oh yeah I forgot about the light switch haha ... make that 5.

Well I just got a highly annoying rock ding on my chrome shield. So annoyed right now. I was thinking this was a good excuse to do a R32 front conversion. But they are selling for US$800 here!!!! And that's pre-painted!! I can't even begin to imagine having to cough up another $800 if I get another rock ding. Here are photos ...

And, yes, that's a FC Barsa cap. [:D]

Maybe that could be hammered out by a 'paintless dent removal' specialist?

BTW - what I said before about the cup-holder was rubbish - this car is, of course, a Jetta and does have this as a standard fit in the UK (I was thinking Golf!). Sorry Ronin.

Your radio looks different to ours and are your seats perforated leather.
The radio is a 6 disc in-dash CD without Nav from a model year 06 ... I know the 07 has has silver buttons.

The seats are "near leather" [:D] also called "leatherette" ...

Nice modding Ronin, buy didn't you want Xenons? This is the one thing that U.K. owners regret not having on their cars & a very popular question on the forum (about retro-fitting). Maybe the headlamp regulations are different in the U.S.?

I was looking at the radio after you said it was the 6CD in dash... And thought "that looks really small". Then I looked at my RCD500 (UK equiv of yours), and realised it was about hte same size... I guess it's just the different button layout!

You don't know how badly I want xenons ... it's on my list. [:D]

It is ok to have HIDs in the U.S. ... only problem is OEM xenon kits are about US$1,600!! And that requires serious retrofitting to make sure the auto-levelers work. There are aftermarket ones for half the price but without any sort of leveling mechanism ... last thing I want to do is blind people while driving. Hella has released an affordable set but they are still working on a leveling mechanism that runs to a control on the dash - kind of ghetto but you take what you can get. An alternative I have been considering are the FK angel eyes which look really nice especially with eyelids.

Oh and by the way I fixed the rock ding ... [:D]
