will an exhaust by remus do any good to it?? i know that a lot of people have remaps would my car benifit from a remap. Nitrous would be a expensive mod and have to keep filling it up just to keep up with the standard gti's lol. but thanks for the suggestion mate. sonny

your car wouldnt get much out of a remap as its not go a turbo to take full advantage of when tuning. our car is the equivalent of a low powered petrol engine. The most ou will be able to do is exhaust , induction maybe NOS. you might be best looking into turbo kits for it.

A tuningbox/remap will be your best bet, apart from the aready done modified intake. An exhaust system will make it quite loud (remeber it's not a turbo car, that the turbo itself acts as a muffler) without any noticable gains.

Personally I wouldnt bother with the SDI. They are made to be economical, low insurance and munch up the miles without a problem. I sometimes drive an SDI caddy and to be honest, all you would be doing is spending a lot of money to get it to TDI 110 standard maybe. Better to put that money into a deposit for another car that has better tuning capabilities should you wish to tune it. My 2pence anyway.

thats what the plan is im saving up to either buy an anni or a r32 next. but just wanted to know if theres any mods which can perk up the performance slightly, id be happy with 90 bhp if i cud squeeze it out of the engine.

and josh, whats this custom code thing about, sounds interesting because its the first of heard of it.

and a big thanks for all the replys awswell. sonny

standard sdi runs 68bhp IIRC?

you'd be very hard pressed to push that to 90, there simply is nothing to really be gained from it. a map on a car with a turbo will make a much bigger difference, naturally aspirated, low-powered engines will remain low-powered unfortunately.

save yourself some cash, get a faster car.

I've got an SDI too, you can't really do anything to it apart from make it look better visually with mods. Drive the car and treat the car as it was meant to be used, a cheap to insure/tax workhorse that has no trouble munching the miles and more importantly no turbo to go pop!

Change the car, whats the point. Its an economy car nothing wrong with that i nearly got an SDI until i saw the 0-60 on autotrader.

I dont think i could bare being overtaken by a 1.0 corsa.
Lol!

Its actually not too bad when it gets up too speed, can certainly hold its own, its er... just the initial acceleration which can be quite tragic! [:O] I've gotten used to it now (had my car since 2008) and can't fault it, its been good to me and been reliable. I would have got a TDI back then but got the car for a reason (had an accident the year prior and lost most of my no claims [:(] ) so needed something with cheap tax and insurance.

Alright once it gets up to speed? Really? Lol. You mean once it's up to 70mph it'll stay there? Because with that little power it won't be going much faster anytime today!

If you're getting a better car as soon as next year, don't throw your money away on mods that, in truth, won't make the car noticeably faster at all.
