Went to have a leaky tyre valve changed yesterday and was suprised to be told I had about 1k left on my fronts. The tyre guy was well shocked and asked me what ive been doing to wreck em as he only put them on in Nov. They will have only done 6k miles when they need changing. Is this average, also what do you guys get out of your fronts?.

Looks like ive either been driving too fast or my local tyre shop have been giving me bad advice and rubbish tyres. The set I have on the front are Cooper zeon 2xs, the guy at the tyre shop said they would outlast anything cost ?70 a corner. Think ive had the wool pulled over my eyes? or could it be my driving. Thinking of trying the Goodyear Eagle F1s next time as I have heard good reviews on them.

the tyres should have a set of numbers on the side wall, one of them is a wear rating - indicates how long they should last. See what these cooper zeons are and compare to the likes of goodyear on one of the tyre websites.

but yes, if you power round corners ( i'm guilty of this) then you will wear them quicker.

Having said that, driving like a mad man round bend and roundy's I still get 12 k out of the fronts on Contacts

Got 24k from the original Michelin Pilots on the front. Rears still have loads on them.

Those things refuse to wear, got nearly 30K out of them on my 2.0 bora. And I dont hang about in that[:D]
