cool so i need this if i want to get a new key?
as i only have one thats what im going to do this week, if i get this from ebay

and a new transponder from ebay can i simply put the two together and program it to the car using the programing sequence? or would it just be easier to go to the dealers?
obviously ill make sure the key is the same as i got know by checking the codes on the key

yes i agree, keep it safe and write it down in a few other places. may save you some money incase you have problems in the future
