Hi,

I'm looking to buy my first golf.

I've found this golf on autotrader -

It's not a turbo but has been modified with an exhaust system and induction kit.

It's got a lot of extra's, i.e. 18" alloys, bumpers and skirts etc.

What do you think of the car and price???

Hmmm, i guess its a 2.0l and not a 1.8.

You will need to make sure the timing belt has been done aswell (think 60k)

I've emailed the seller to see what the exact engine spec is as I've got a feeling it is a 1.8 turbo 150bhp.

If it is the 150bhp 1.8T what do you think of the price/car?

The price looks a little steep to me; it's not a turbo and doesn't appear to have aircon. The seller describes it as a "special edition"; only in his opinion maybe. As a comparison this is the best buy I've seen recently:

jon e00 if its something you like ask the guy how long he's been trying to sell it for. If its been a while you know he's asking a lot for it... (it sounds a lot to me but it has a few extras you want.) If the car is something you like and are interested make a low bid and see what he says..

Its not a limited edition.

He's been trying to flog it for a while now. Its been on ebay around 4 times in the last year

well I wouldn't buy a car with over 100k on it, but thats not to say its gonna fall apart...just my personal preference

Mines got 86K but runs like a dream. If its serviced and looked after then it could be a good buy.

100k on VW is not really nothing to worry about IMO, if it was a astra, focus id tell you to run a mile.

I bought mine with 100k on it as far as I'm concerned as long as it's got full history and looks in good condition they are normally a bargain as lots of people don't like the stigma of a high miler

I've bought Golfs with over 100k and i know a lot of other people who have as long as they have got main dealer service history you don't have anything to worry about.. Its just a bigger number thats all.

If the Car is being sold by a trader/dealer most of the time that car has come out of an aution and they are normally lease plan cars with have to be serviced in a main dealer.
