Seen worse although that gap is very pronounced. I have J13LCK spaced as:

A little fettling and you should be safe enough. My sister(copper) said it's the different fonts they don't like and as long as it can be read easily there's not much problem. Putting screw caps in the wrong places is a big no-no too.

Just to add, the wife was caught by camera van speeding (it's in a different thread somewhere) and I went to the Police station to see the video, they said nothing about the plates. I presume this is because they're legible.

I know one who will[]. Also, the Plate Reading Vans dislike silver and white cars because they are programmed to look for a white rectangle and lock on to check it's details. These colours sometimes make it difficult for them to do this.

Felix, is that a 9 or a 3 with a screw cap?

It takes a while to come up with something you like that's available, I sat for ages trying to think of different things. Always better and cheaper to buy from DVLA though.
