Hello,

My run to work returns approx. 500 miles from a tank of fuel. The route
of 20 miles each way consists mainly of hilly A roads and a little town
driving.

A motorway journey between North Yorkshire and Somerset gives me about
60 mpg at a steady 70 - 80 mph. This would give a range of about 600
miles before I needed to fill-up.

Of course, fuel consumption is largely determined by environmental
conditions and your driving style. Whilst I generally get a little over
50mpg on average for the run to work with the Granny
switch on, a more "spirited" style returns 45-48mpg. [;)]

I've also noticed a small increase in my average fuel consumption over
the last few weeks. The cooler weather conditions may be playing a part
here?

My PD130 returns 53mpg averaged over 21 months from new.  Everything is stock but 17" wheels.  I don't drive like a loon, nor a granny.

The cooler weather certainly helps on consumption. Have also put my climate control onto "Econ" and the mpg has risen. Drove to Birmingham last night and at a steady 80mph all the way returned 51mpg. Which is excellent concidering I only used to average about 45mpg on a motorway run. Running a re-map and 18" alloys.

If you use 6th gear at about 70mph, you actually use more fuel than if you stay in 5th (due to torque characteristics of this engine). You will get better fuel consumption at 6th when doing 80mph plus.

More or less without fail 550 on a tank. This is mainly A road but some M way and some B roads. Using A/C affects this quite considerably so I tend to try not to use it. Where I live is quite hilly so I thought I might return lower figures than some folk darn sarf but it appears not. This is a 52 reg 100PD with Tunit.

I usually get 55-56mpg which is on 1/3 B roads and 2/3 motorway on the way to work. The best i've ever got is 67mpg when caught in a 50 mph section of the M25...i usually drive below 70 due to heavy traffic when commuting (M40-M25)

Ditto!

I get about 430 per tank, thats with a complete mixture of driving & roads.

Not good enough IMO - I should have bought a 1.8T or V6!

Someone else told me that u get better fuel consuption if you use 5th gear more than 6th, how odd. Might have to try that.

Best I ever got was 67mpg and about 660 miles out of a full (and vented) tank.
