I noticed this morning when I reached for my sunglasses that the cloth bag they are kept in was pretty wet.

They wee in the bottom right hand corner of my glove box, I know that from reading the manual that cold air is circulated in the glove box... Could it be that I put the case over the air vent and wet patch is condensation?.... Has anyone come across this before or do I have a leak?

[legend]If it is not a lot of water, then it could be from the air con.

It's just a patch of dampness at the bottom right hand corner. I don?t think I have correct book for my Passat.. There is a lock with a padlock icon next to it. It's located next to the petrol cap and boot buttons....

I have no idea what this is for, its not mentioned in the manual... Any Ideas?

I've put the car in this morning to have it totally checked over in my local garage ( I don?t trust the dealer) and to have it de-tow bared.

Thanks for the info, I'll look at the manual tonight and see if I can find some info in readjusting the levels... Failing that I?ll have a few days left on my warranty..

Ta.

Are you sure [?]. So you have 3 buttons on your drivers door, to the left of the map pocket [?].

I think they button you maybe referring to is the lock function, which is located with the window buttons and is for locking all the doors and tailgate when you are inside the vehicle.

I have a dial in my glove box, which i am pretty sure is for the air con, but TBH i have not read the instructions as to which is high & which is the low setting.

Na, just me being rubbish at explaining things. There are two buttons to the left of the map pocket, and to the left of those buttons there is a key hole with a padlock icon next to it.

My key fits the lock and I have turned it.. but I cant see it making any difference...

Ive checked my glove box and Ive a feeling somethign is missing.

The book says... and I quote [^] "The amount of hair can be contolled with the rotary vent"

I have no rotary vent, just a hole with a bit of sponge behind it.... I'll try and take a pic tonight...

[:I]Ok, OK it might not be a direct quote, I might have added a sneaky wee "h" in there.... And misspelled Controlled... But ignoring that it is a direct quote [:D]

I have a feeling that this is where the rotary vent should go...

i took a pic of the control for you, i'll post it up shortly.......

EDIT: Here we go. Sorry, not the best pic, but the control is in exactly the position that you indicated above. Looks almost like it has been pulled off in your glove box.

Feel free to use the pic as you wish (e.g. show it to your dealer).

PS I checked and don't have the key lock next to my tailgate release / filler cap release, it is just a blank cover. I have no idea what that does [?].

no problem - good luck.

BTW, what "plans" (as per sig) do you have for your car [?].

Plans :)

First thing I'm going to invest in is cruise control, I was on a long motorway journey the other day and found it far to easy to drift over 70mph without realising it...[:D]

Close second is a set of alloys; I was thinking RS4's or something similar.

I also want to get it lowered; I've been advised about 40mm.

I've also looked into getting the black bumper inserts replaced with the body colour / chrome ones. Rough quote I got was ?400 to buy the parts and get them sprayed, I'm still thinking about it.

I'd like to replace the steering wheel with a better VW one, the one I have at the moment isn't chunky enough for me.

Need a new stereo, I have my CD player from my old car but it doesn't really fit in with the blues and reds of the dash. Need to look into speakers and amps and thing, something I know nothing about.

Still thinking about very light tints, knowing my luck I'd get them done and two days later I'd get pulled and asked to remove them.

I'm still looking into what I can do, finding good Passat sites seem to be difficult....

Any suggestions that you think I might like to add to my list would be more than welcome.

Have you checked out www.clubb5.com [?]. Mainly US members, but if you need to know something, you can usually get an answer.

I've got the sport model and it is actually quite low as standard. the mudflaps scrape on speed humps as it is [!].

I'm going to keep the suspensions std, but just add a Neuspeed rear ARB to keep things tighter and eliminate more of the body roll. Hope to purchase this soon. I fitted one on my Bora and was most pleased with it.

I have factory tints, from the B-pillar back. I would like them darker (for the sake of the kids), but can't warrant the money right now. I put 35% all round on my Bora, and never had any problems with the police.

I had the black rub/bump strips replaced by my dealer, with the newer colour coded/chrome ones as part of the deal when i bought the car [:)]. Looks much better IMO, but costly to retrofit i would imagine [!].

I would love some 17's, but the road america 16's are sufficient really, unless i was offered good money for them.

BTW i looked in my manual yesterday, and the picture you posted is not in it, so it must be to do with your model of car [?].
