Dose anyone have the VW logo in the front light clusters (on front of the light bulb cover)?

I parked next to a 54 plate golf yesterday and I looked at there lights and as I thought there was the VW logo in there, and that was a lover spec car than mine![]

I have a 2.0 GT TDI (04 plate) and the lights don't have the VW logo in them, I don't know if its not meant to have it in there with this model or year or if my car has been in a front accident before I bought it and they have replaced my lights with some cheep OEM's.[:O]

Can you all check your lights and tell me what year, model and wither you have the VW logo in there or not.

could that have happened when they put the little silver ring on the gear stick and seat belt alarm?

04/54 was the crossover when they added some of those things. Mines a 54 but i dont have the seat belt alarm, logo in headlights or locking glove box.

gt tdi,54 plate(2005 build)logo's on.

dont think the vw bulb cover(or whatever it is?)was on the earlier models but im sorry cant help with when they added on.

It was 04/54. 04 builds dont have them, 05 builds do.

Cool, thats made me feel a bit better, thought my car was refitted with cheep replicas.

No, all Golfs are built in the same factory. Euro ones anyway all come from Wolfsburg.

Changes came as a mini model revision around last May.

As has been mentioned by previous posters, the VW bulb shield is one of a number of modifications introduced by the 2005 model. This model appears to have started being manufactured around the May 2004 time. Consequently, a number of 04 reg cars (like my own) are 2005 models.

From memory, I think the sticker in your car's handbook and/or the sticker in the boot actually states your car's model year.

Probably around June time this year we will hear from new owners of 2006 model cars. I wonder what modifications they will have.

They will probably have such things as:

- bottle opener on a reinforced metal chain fixed to the dashboard

- central airvent made of sponge

- mid to highline computer allowing you to alter volume of owl

Maybe the variable service indicator will be setup from the factory correctly and they'll have a bottle of long life oil in the boot, again fixed to the car by reinforced metal chain....

Eh - what do you mean? These items are still standard on the GT and above.

I think they are the same 05 models. It's just that VW in the UK have changed which features come with which spec.

Mines a 54 and it has them,also has the annoying seat belt chime.

I am glad I got the early car as that bl**dy seat belt chime would really get on my nerves. I hate it when you hire a car in the US as they all have the chiming thing on them there.
