Ive got a freind looking for an R32.

Now i think they are out of his price range. But i was wondering what the private market is like at the moment.

There seems to be a fair few on Autotrader currently, Are they selling ?

Have you advertised your R32 on Autotrader? did it take long to sell ?

Will the new GTI bring prices down?

.... discuss [:)]

They are selling, but slowly. Mines going in on Monday but I'm not holding out much for a private sale. I'm hoping the fact dealers are still asking 22-24k for used examples will play into the private sale deal.

As we know buyers are picky when it comes to spending 20+k so they're looking for clean, well looked after examples.

If your 'friend' wants a nice black 'un send him/her my way [;)]

I doubt very much if the new Gti will drop the prices on the R it's too expensive in IMO of course.

I'm putting my R in the trader in the next month or so so fingers crossed I'll get a decent price for it. Theres not many 04's for sale so I may be lucky. If I don;t get what I want for it I'll not let it go.

I have been watchin em for a while and think they will hold well, purely from a historical point of view Limited golfs have always done well

IE the mk2 golf rallye was not hit at all by the introduction of the mk3 VR6

and even now well specced highline VR6's are not much cheaper than a base spec MK4 V6 4motion

You will always lose on a car but as more R32 drift into longe term ownership they will become rarer and thus those for sale will command very good money.

It is a car I would compare to the escort cosworth, in that 5000 all were sold for around the ?22000 the cossie was a cult car as is the R32, even now 12 years on good Escort Cosworths command 14/18 grand thats depreciation of around 25% in 12 years, I would put big money on the R32 doing aswell as that, and if I wasnt spending my money on a wedding next year I would bite your hand of for yours TABS

Ey up Dean, hows tricks?

Got rid becuase I was doing to many miles, need a PD for the kind of mileage I've been/will be doing.

Plus someone tried to car jack me so I'm not prepared to own a car like that again for a long time to come...

Yeah I'm fine. It was about 6 weeks ago, got followed home from work by two guys in a Subaru Forrester. Rammed me at low speed to make me stop and get out... I hoofed it to the nearest police station with them in persuit.

Eventually they gave up and went on their merry way.... And I decided that that was it as far as R32 ownership was concerned.

Wouldn't term it bad luck, more owning a car thats desirable to wrong crowd [:(]

That wasn't the primary reason why I got rid though, one of the contributing factors at least but the main one was fuel costs based on the mileage I've been doing - 3.2 aint good for 22k a year [:O]
