How much faster should the 4mo be, I have just raced my bro in-law and couldnt really get more than a car length or 2 on him upto a ton[:(]

my 4motion really isnt fast enough, why, apart from mine has now done 70 thou and his bora has only done 29 thou.

Extra weight and transmission losses can be the only explanation apart from 'the drivers'. Maybe he made more optimal use of the changes etc...?? [/ducks]

that maybe but the 4 lurvely laydees in our cars would have been asking why you car smoked like an old chimney and sounded like an old bus

my launch control is ace, beat him of the lights every time, but first gear is way to short I think I might have been better starting in second he only gained on me when I changed gear after driving his I am pretty sure that the v5 has longer gearing any 1 confirm this.

I forgot about potential gearing diff's. Any V5's out there?

in a rolling start i would easy beat him and a wet start definetly I was just suprised we where so close.

You reckon the weight and losses could chew that 30+ brake up?

How does the torque compare?

Is it the V5 that has 170, or are the V5's victim to VW(UK)'s random badging policy?

I wonder if we all have perception difficulties with things like this, hence dissapointment when the reality doesn't meet our perception...?

It wouldn't suprise me that you guys where pretty evenly matched, you really need to launch the 4motion hard to ekk out a bigger advantage

Yes its a 170, and I dont think I could launch harder, I was doing a Tabs style 5000 rpm then sidestep clutch (I learnt it of this site, and as always its gonna cost me money)

When I had my V5 AmDed, the orginal BHP was 170.5 so I cant imagine it being a VW randon thing.

Could it all be down to torque ? As my loves the the low rev range between 2000 and 3500.

Maybe you should be comparing your MPG during your pace making tests to see if the V5 wins that as well [:D]
