Since the search function just having none of it i'm afriad i may have to bring up an old stone.

My car is fun but seeing my mate in his 4mo whip a Cooper S today has me wondering about a chip. I dont really want a remap due to the fact that I wont get the best from it without a new turbo. I just want some good power (4mo-esque) and a smile on my face.

So it's down to Revo and Upsolute in my eyes. So what, apart from price, is the major differences? I know how they are administered is very different but i'm going to be keeping this car for a long while and probably selling it to someone on here so being able to reverse it isnt really an issue.

I've a veeeerry late 99 AGU so i'd be interested if anyone has driven a Revo'd one and Upsoluted one back to back.

Look forward to your input!

David (has cash, will use it[:D])

REVO and Upsolute are remaps albeit generic ones. I think the differences between them will be minimal but I'm sure I've heard somewhere that Upsolute is better for the earlier non-dbw engines. Maybe some of the petrol boys can give more clarification on this.

Im sure the only reason that Upsolute is better for NonDBW will be due to price.

I don't think you would notice much difference between the two David, go for Upsolute and put the extra towards a Cotton Green filter or Forge DV. Im not too sure if you have either.

REVO are the only company able to serial tune an AGU 1.8T... nobody else can due to the ECU. Upsolute offer the better bang for buck as i think there is very little difference in the two for power, yet Upsolute will cost you ?305, and REVO ?499+Vat...

Havent got the Forge but I got the GC Filter when I had the Milltek installed. What would the Forge actually give me apart from a more robust DV?

With non DBW cars there isn't much in it in terms of extra poke from any particular chip/remap. I originally had the APR map on my AGU when it first came out, i have since found ou tho that the APR non dbw code was written without the use of a boost gauge as they werent really interested... [:(] My car only peaked at under 1 bar and fell down (like a hooker who just got hit in the stomach by some fat guy with sores on his face!!!) to around 10 psi at 5k ish. All in all it made a difference but as i realised other people were just faster than me. I went for Revo about 12 months ago and was very happy with the results i got. Went down the their HQ because the APR needed removing and they were sceptical of their dealers messing it up. Really nice bunch of lads the revo gang. I got the car RR'd at stealth shortly after and acheived 202 bhp and 236 lb/ft! Pretty impressive for an earlier car, but i do have all the bolts ons. I have since fitted a ko3 sport and an MBC to override the revo code. results are very sucessful. I havnt had the car rr'd again but it is defo more powerful as I'm seeing of certain cars i could before!

If i were you i really wouldn't know what to go with, if its price then Up is great and Simon C has superb reports on this forum. It does appear that Revo gives a tiny bit more but it comes at a cost...That extra 25 lb/ft is the mid range peak of boost. Probably down to the revo code running a few more psi?

Cheers Tim, some damn good advice there. APR can go do one now and any time in the future. I think I'll just suck it up and go for a REVO when I get it done. It sounds like that is the best option regardless of the price

Wasn't there an issue with upsolute remapped AGU's having an ease-off "snatch" issue?

Was this ever resolved? What was the cause? All i got from the old thread was that changing the DV didn't make much difference.

Its the only thing putting me off the upsolute remap for my 2000 AGU 1.8T.

My 1.8T is upsoluted and knocked out 201bhp and 245 lbft of torque on Stealth's rolling road. It has a forge DV but no other mods. Simon was really good, I would certainly recommend him.

If you go to REVO I understand that there is a remap trial that is free and lasts on the car for 6 hours if you wanted to try it out.
