I'm planning on uprating the brakes on my '01 1.8T. I'm trying to keep everything as OEM and was wondering if the 312mm disks with Audi TT carriers will fit under the standard Monteal 16" wheels?

How good is the 312mm conversion? I'm not planning any track days, I just want better braking after getting Revo.

Definately worthwhile... they cope with 180bhp+ quite easily.

Im not 100% confident in mine after a little spirited driving, in fact they can become a little scary sometimes!!

You have considerably more than 180bhp tho Gary! lol

You said 180bhp+ quite easily Chris [:I] [^]

I know what you mean though, I was very impressed when I bought the car but they have gone considerably worse as mods go on!!

I think it was this months Evo..... LCR versus the new GTI and the 1-series etc.... one of the most suprising stats was that the LCR was not the best in the braking field, even considering the Brembos.. other manufacturers brakes seemed to be able to do the job exactly the same if not better. I think the Leon was the heaviest in the test... but maybe they aren't as good as we all imagine?

few more words,..that go well with Porche and BREMBO,.lots of Dough ??????!!

I got my set up off a 4 motion and although I only have an 'ickle 130 BHP, ...the 312mm stuff up front work great, lots more feel and responsiveness.

The rears I am less happy with, slight misalignment of calipers, or possible poor set of Textar pads, gives rise to squeeks and poor contact with disc, will replace pads and try again.

One more word....PORSCHE [;)]

2 problems here (for me anyway) -

(1) don't really want to change the wheels if I can avoid it (although I am starting to crave some wider wheels so maybe)

(2) too much money to spend on a golf :)

I'm only planning on getting the car Revo'd (no quest for massive power) so if the 312mm disks will do the job then I'm happy - probably go for some grooved disks and fast road pads though.
