just been watching the news covering the disaster that has struck
japan and was wondering of a way of raising money to help out the poor
people who have been affected by it.

so I thought I'd suggest a
uk-mkivs' charity track day. now I know it's easier said than done, but I
thought I would suggest it anyway to see what support it would get.

maybe
organise it for during the summer, in around 3 or 4 months time when
it's nice and sunny. choose a track that is central, somewhere in the
midlands. and it would be great to get everyone from the site together
for the day to check out each other's cars.

maybe have a few
events, give out some awards and stuff. and the proceeds could go to
charity. we could even take a vote on the site prior if anyone has any
other charity suggestions?

just an idea...

Good idea in principle, think however most people in here wouldn't want to take their cars onto a track.

How about a go-karting day instead?

I was thinking, if it get's enough support then we could speak to the track owners to tell them what we're organising and get the track exclusive for uk-mkivs and at a discounted rate (possibly).

the idea of taking our cars is so we could have something like a mini show and shine

I've also seen the British Red Cross has a Japan Appeal... http://www.redcross.org.uk/Donate-Now/Make-a-single-donation/Japan-Tsunami-Appeal

Maybe you could incorporate something with the megameet?

The R32OC equiv had a show and shine fiver per entry and raised £300ish for hedway last year not a vast amount but pretty decent.

Yeah, my track car is an Audi S2 so doesn't really apply to uk-mkivs.

what about drag racing, york or something you could pay for so many runs or induvidual runs. drag shootout. i'm sure people wouldn't mind going in a straight line. I suppose it would be a test on peoples reflexes rather than power which is what it's all about, good competition. maybe get someone to donate their time and with a stupidly fast drag car to take people down the strip at face melt speed.
