Is there a way to turn this off, cause I just don't need it? I have the light switch turned to O, where the handbook says it should be disabled, but it still comes on. OK, I can turn it off when I leave the car by unlocking first, but WHY? I don't want any of it! Help! []

Well it would probably depend how friendly you are with your dealer! I have read of people being charged for things like this, however it is a quick job for them, plug in comp, change setting, disconnect!

I soooo badly wish I'd thought of adding the Hi-line. It wasn't money that put me off (?45), but I simply didn't know what it did, so the dealer didn't sell me the car very well I suppose, or perhaps I seemed so knowledgeable about it when I went in?

I find the "leaving home" auto headlights a pain in the @rse. []

Hi-line computer should sooo be standard. Must cost more to have the options available. For ?45 - why?

I haven't received delivery of my 2.0 GT TDI DSG yet & i'm already just too excited!! The Hi-Line computer comes as standard with the SatNav system, but when I asked the dealer what extra stuff the Hi-Line did, he couldn't answer!! He ran about the showroom butting in to colleagues conversations with other punters & couldn't get a straight answer from any of them! He eventually fobbed me off with a lame explanation of monitoring tyre pressures! Another forum member already dismissed that. Coz the TPM is a further optional extra which is not even listed in any of their brochures! So, i'm left still wondering what the Hi-Line does! At least I know now that it adjusts the time the coming/leaving home lights stay on!.. Thanks for that!

There is quite a lot of detailed info you are after in section 3.1 'Controls and Equipment' of the Golf handbook. I realise of course that you will only see this when you take delivery of your car but in the meantime if you visit your dealer again you could ask him if he has a copy available and point him to pages 15 to 19. It'll be easier than my trying to type it here.

Thanks Beddoe,

Another member informs me that the Hi-Line Computer has the ability to change quite a few of the settings.. Such as lights, wipers, doors etc.. Could you tell me if that's true? I will read the manual from cover to cover when I get it but I understand there's a few things I need the dealer to set before I drive away! One of them is the door auto lock facility (doors automatically lock after 6 secs or when the car starts moving). Could you let me know if the Hi-Line Computer can set this? Many Thanks

Door autolock can be set from the Hiline comp, the manual is pretty hopeless because it talks about settings which you cannot actually change on the highline comp, one example is 'side mirror dip on reverse' also theres a setting on the high line comp which I cant figure out what on earth i does, no mention in the manual either!

Other things you can change is the units of measure, for example the mpg to km/l or usa mpg (dont know why you would want to do that!), you can also change how the remote works for closing the windows and sunroof.

Glad you've received two replies before this one, not because I'm lazy you understand but your other correspondents are more Kowledgeable than me!

I hope that you've had your questions answered although I'll willingly check the handbook again if you need any other info that may be hidden there.

Thanks Beddoe,

Appreciated.
I'm promising to everyone i'll read the manual (when I get the car!) but i just need to know what I can do myself when i get the car or i need to get the dealer to do before i pick it up!
The consensus of opinion is that the HiLine Computer does most (if not all) of the things the dealer can do.. Which is great.!
