i have just brought a tt brake set up (312mm) ie discs (312mm)carriers and calipers. is it worth swopping the calipers or would they be the same as my 288mm 150bhp 1999 gti T.i was just thinking that maybe the piston in the tt ones would be a little larger.

The calipers are exactley the same as the ones on the golf. Save yourself the agro and stck with the ones fitted already - it'll save you having t bleed the brakes.

yes, you just need the caliper carriers from the 312mm setup (TT, S3, anni etc) the discs and the pads (if required).

as long as your front discs are 288mm then yes!

It's quite cheap for the front but gets relatively expensive to do the rears too. Plan to do that in the new year.

Take your wheel off, and measure the disc straight across#!

Also if your disc fills a 16" wheel then you have 312mm discs.

im sure v5s are 288mmm

if your calipers have FSIII printed on them, they are 280mm calipers - new hubs required!

I'm pretty certain the v5's have the 288mm discs also. Have a search on here as I'm sure someone else has asked but it could have been years ago when the site first started....

If you buy them from Audi, TT carriers cost ?111 each, and it's ?65 per disc!
