Just a quick one - do TPS sell to the public.

My nearest depot is Clifton in Preston and would like to purchase from them.

Ive tried searching but TPS comes back with throttle position sensor.

Officially no they don't,hence the name TRADE Parts Service. It's up to the manager of each branch whether they do or don't sell to the public.
My local one outside Belfast sorts me out. Prices vary depending on who appears behind the counter though.
mine in newcastle will sell to the public but again depends on who you get as to what price you pay.
Thanks for the info - at least I now know I've got a chance
nottingham one does as well
Never had a problem at the Edinburgh branch.

Prefer TPS, better than my dealers as they usually have most things in stock or can get it in next day instead of "will be in on Tuesday"
they probably wont turn you away if you turn up for a cash sale, but their ordering process is long so wont sell to public for small sales over the phone

e.g. they don't just sell you the part by part number. you have to give the car reg and they will look up the vehicle and identidy the part number from ther commputer
As I understand it they all have trade counters and sell to the public. The issue is that normally they charge retail prices to the public in those situations and if you have a trade account you get the benefit of the discount which is quite a lot.

Fortunately I know a guy who has an account so I use his details and get the discount.

It comes down to the whim of the sales clerk. I was buying lots of coolant a year or so ago when i had a leak in the radiator. Most of te times I would pay around £6.50 for a 1.5L concentrate bottle of g14, but occasionally I would pay around £9.50 for it (retail price). It depends who you deal with and if they're feeling charitable they might push a trade discount through for you.
My local TPS in Bletchley is brilliant.

Been using them for over a year now. Always get good prices.

I tell them I work at Mercedes-Benz in Milton Keynes though (which I do).

I do tell them I am buying the parts as a private customer.
