If you have a Euro4 compliant Golf & the TFL website says that you have to pay the Toxicity Charge (despite being compliant) you need to send an email with your address, VRN & VIN to VW & they should issue a letter that you can use to prove compliance.

which models are affected? mine was compliant. It's getting rare to see 2002 cars now. especially in London. Before I checked the website I would have bet that my car was not compliant. it seems the authorities just want old cars off the road.

I just looked mine up on the Vehicle Certification Agency database and it is listed as being Euro 4 compliant.

I'll be having a letter issued from VW so that in the event that I get caught in the city centre, I'll be plain-sailing

I stand to be corrected, but I understand Certain hybrids also now get clobberd.

Thinking along the lines of the Lexus GS450H.

Was congestion charge exempt

But not the T charge.

Might explain why a few are coming up for sale now.

Not a problem if you dont go London.
