towing legalities

hi all i think ill be picking up a car soon but i cant drive it as it has no mot.what are the laws (if any)on towing a car with a rope?itll be mainly down A roads.thanks.dan.

Still has to be insured etc.

Only way is to get day insurance on it, or use a trailer.
book it into an mot place right near your home then if you get pulled you can explain you were driving to the mot place...

if you book it in for an mot it has to be a reasonable distance from where the car is legaly owned
if you can,, use a straight bar too,far safer than a rope and do as the above posts state,,

It's now illegal to tow with a rope on UK highways. A solid bar is required at all times. However, a towrope may be used to pull a vehicle from a ditch or suchlike, where a solid bar would be impracticable.
Is it?

Ive always used a rope for towing.
