To Remap or not to remap?!

I had mine mapped at 120k by Storm Development, had no problems!

the economy is purely how you drive, if you drive like a loon 100% of the time you will end up with really poor mpg, if you drive it generally steady and only give it some beans now and again then will avg better mpg. imo it would be the first thing I would have had done on a change of motor...

Its the best bang for buck over any other mod you will do. Make sure you have a bit of spare cash left over after the mapping though. Both motors I have had mapped have required new clutches very shortly afterwards. Particularly if it hasn't been changed previously.

That said though, the difference is like night or day. Once you have it, you'll wonder why it wasn't like that in the first place.

i dont have my tdi mapped (yet) but i had a seat ibiza cupra mapperd by revo, and as said its like night and day. i had no clutch problems just problem with boost pipes popping off!

As long as AMD give the car checkover and logging session prior to mapping (which they do) to check there are no under laying issues then there should be no real problem. Weak point would the the clutch if its the original unit which has done 100k.

I've just done mine at 130k. It's just like taking the hand brake off.
I knew before hand that the flywheel is starting to rattle so thought it's getting replaced at somepoint anyways. My clutch does not slip.

I've just done mine and the clutch is slipping a little in the higher gears when you give it the beans. Mine has done 123k so a clutch was imminent. It certainly puts a BIG smile on your face[H]

hi all i am new on this site was told to go on here i have pasett tdi 1998 110bhp recenlty going up to motorway my turbo goes into limp mode losers turbo but fine round local roads checked pipes changed fuel fillter was told if i have it remapped would solve my problum any help plz and thanks

You would be best starting a new topic on that problem...best to have the car running properley before a remap. Most mappers will not map a sick car[]

I'm putting off a remap on my car for as long as possible, trying to wait until I'm just too bored of it and need to give it a new lease of life! Not bored of it yet, plus the longer I wait but more £££ reserves I'll be putting away should I find the clutch is past it's best.

Have you done anything else to your car by way of modding?? If you can stretch to a decat downpipe before you might enjoy the car's turbo being able to pick up a bit more, should compliment any remap you choose to go for. Lots of good things keep getting said about R-Tech in Leicester, I'll be going there when I eventually get a remap.

Have a read on the forum both Revo and Custom Code have a good reputation for a generic stage 1 map

wow right im so confused! do i get it like AMD do it or like a chip? i need a vote when i do get around to doing it, what to get/where to go, i am in essex so! amd?revo?custom code?.....? (id like constant power) and ppl that have got chips/increased power/mapped what they think and mpg cheers!
