I thought this souned like it was coming from the power steering resevour, it does look like a little black box. Just bought my lady's 1.8T and it was doing it. The fluid was low so i topped it up and the ticking is still there, I now assume it must be this purge valve? is this near the powersteering resevour?

the charcoal filter is next to the ps box. put your hand on top when its ticking and you can feel it.

are they suppose to tick because i think mine had it's last ticks because it's silent makes no noise [:O] how will i know if i should change it ?

Noticed it on my 1.8t today thought it was something todo with fuel just thought I would check if it was normal ??
