I mean...wide-arch body Kit, shiny wheels, bad boy bonnet, side mount number plate, gaping great hole in the bonnet, quad exhaust...it's got 'Chav' written all over it, hasn't it?

The car that has been ridiculed by many on here today as being laughable and chaved, the owner has had the wee taken out of him by members on here via ebay questions:

Now, MRK IV's car is one of the most highly acclaimed cars on here, and rightly so. Don't want to offend you MRK IV as we know how much extra stuff your car has got etc etc, but there aint that much difference in the looks from the front.

This is what I don't get, MRK IV's car is one of the best on here, the ebay car is crap and chavved and the owner is a complete idiot as far as people on here are concerned.....

You really need to ask?
Look at his front bumper, its hideous but your's looks spot on even though it strays away from OEM looks.

to be honest, its like most people have said. yours looks awesome and well thought out and to the majorities taste apparently! however, what lets the ebay golf down is the front bumper and that huge exhaust.

i think the main thing is the ebay golf is just over the top in 2 areas, again, imo.

Right I dont want to get too complimentary here, but his is just
stick-on Revs style tat that does not suit the car, and yours has
tasteful, classy and smooth body-styling that goes with the look of the
car, and on the whole the car looks stunning and carefully done!

Seriously, back on point....and there is a serious point here...and that's that the word 'Chav' (IMO) has become used way too widely on this forum and diversity and 'pushing the envelope' is almost frowned upon...which makes me laugh because I did that years ago, hence staying out of most of these arguements/discussion/diatribes...and concentrating on BMW's []

So, lets imagine this scenario: Said Ebay Golf had a 380bhp engine and the associated ancilliaries....would that change any attitudes?

My car: If I'd stuck the Konigseder wide arch kit on with Bondo (as per the instructions) and not spent 6 months blending, shaping and subtely altering it to what I wanted, would it be 'Chav'?

So, is slapping on a body kit 'Chav', but customising it makes it worth attention?

Therefore, slapping on an Anniversary/R32 kit (regardless of the fact that it's 'OEM') on a car that isn't, surely that's the same as 'M' badges on a non-M-BMW? Which, judging by the threads I've read recently would make it 'Chav'?

....so....really, most people here are 'chavving' their Golfs?

I've been trying to get this point across for ages now and everytime I do I seem to either get ignored and the chav bashing continues or I get ridiculed! Hence my thread earlier abou 'I'm a chav' after getting seriously annoyed with those on the ebay thread today with their narrow little snob minds! A couple of people said before me 'bitches' and 'give credit to the guy' but it was funnier to ridicule him for having something different. How Dan can say that the above is all stick on I don't know, looks perfectly done to me, it's just literally a different shaped plastic.

Tonight I did think I was in the middle of some sort of middle class conservative 'I'm better than you' atmosphere and it really did start to make me wonder why I was even reaing it, let alone responding.

Sorry guys, but some of you really do come across a 'followers to be in with the crowd and be liked' and quite litterally 'toffee nosed self pleasurers'. Especially when you go and ridicule someone on ebay who has done nothing to you and has done nothing wrong and has been literally completely honst in his ebay description. The same thing happens when people are not honest in their description, we all seem to jump on them saying 'what an idiot'....people can't seem to win and will be labelled as chav whatever.

I cant understand it, does it make you feel better about yourself somehow? Must admit, it's strange that all those people calling him a chav apart from Dan, have now not replied to my comments on that thread and have gone silent!

To ther people and the public we will be coming across as petty little children in the playground bullying the 'out of the gang' kids. Like someone said, and made me laugh, you sounded like Hyacinth Bucket!

This is great, TBH all those people who think its Chav cause of the bumper and exhaust,

do you not realise thats what people think of you when they see a decent modded golf,

dont want insult Garym but if someone like my old man saw your
car he would not be able to differentiate between a ?400
oettinger spoiler and some ?30 fibreglass rubbish, and then the porsche
brakes painted red would then confirm this in his mind for 2 reasons,
if you want porchse brakes, buy a porchse, and red and golfs dont
have red brakes, so you must have painted them red! especially when the
weels arent silver anymore and are painted grey, this would again
confirm this.

This is not my opinion but those of people I know who
are not into modded cars, however they are into cars BigTime.
When
Ive tried to persuade my old man to mod a car IE wheels he just
says WHY, ill put the money away and get an altogether
better/newer car which is quite
logical, and also why him and alot of others view of all modded cars as
stupid, as basically it is ilogical and a waste of money so therfore
the people that mod them must be illogical and stupid IE CHAV

OK I find the Chav word sickening and a poor excuse to discrimate against those with less cash. Never the less I will use it in this thread.

Chavs spend serious amount so cash speccing up Corsas. For the cash they spend they could buy a decent unmolested Mk IV. For the money spent on the MkIV in question you could have got a truly decent car, Porsche etc. So in that respect it is similar to a chaved up Corsa.

Your car is sweet but with all respect you couldn't dream of matching the talent of the best German Engineers so therfore why spend all that cash trying. It is still a Golf after all that.

Unless you are incredibly rich I would suggest that it is a shocking waste of cash and time to make a Golf like that but if it kept you happy who am I to have a go.
