Alright guys,

I thought it was about time i did a build thread as i have had multiple golfs and never done one. I used to have a 1998 vw golf tdi 110bhp, put this on coilovers, bbs lm's, blacked the headlining and got a set of leater recaro interior.. fancied an upgrade so bought myself a 2001 vw golf Pd130 in grey 5dr with only 74k on the clock. Was so happy with it as there was nothing wrong with it and was in mint condition! Really nice guy who owned it before and had the best service history i have ever seen! Every mot and work done on the car since it was brought in early 2002

here it is, bog standard not been modified in anyway.

First thing which needed to happen was to get some pressed plates and some areo wipers for the front and a mk5 wiper for the back. Thought about de-wipering it but prefer the mk5 wiper look

In my old car i had a set of leather recaros but found that because they
where abit creased it made the whole interior look abit tatty, so i
sold these and invested in some cloth recaros, got a mint set of ebay! out with the old and in
with the new....

Next was coilovers, i still had my old car at this point so i took the jamex coilovers off that as i only had them on for about 8months, swapped the suspension and put my old car back to standard and fitted my new one with the coilovers, gave them a grease and fitted them late on evening.. wouldnt reccomend as i was freezing and only had some rubbish lights.

After this i was unsure of what wheels i wanted, was thinking some bbs ch's but then wanted something different and got my mind set on getting a set of porsche wheels. Got some fk adapters off eBay which were 20mm all round with all bolts included. Bought these before i got the wheels and then searched ebay, pistonheads and forums every day to try and find a set of porsche turbo/cup3 alloys

Found a set with not to much looking on pistonheads, got them off a guy who had taken them off his boxxer and worked at a garage and got them freshly painted before he sold them, picked up 4 porsche cup 3 alloys (which i think i prefer to the tubros) fronts are 18 - 8j wide and rears are 18 - 10j wide, didn't come with any center caps but got a set of these on ebay, took delivery of the wheels and was well chuffed.. now for the tyres!

now for the fitting, didnt take me to long as i only had to take the steelies off, fit adapters and then fit the wheels, did have to raise the back up abit though as i couldnt get more than 3 people in my car without it rubbing.

wanted some stretch so opted for 225/40/18 on the backs which produced a lush stretch and went for 215/40/18 on the front

wheels were on and a couple days later the center caps came. havent got any photo's of these but got the silver and black porsche badge ones

after all of this my bank balence was looking quite unhealthy so had to give the modding scene abit of a break.. this didnt stop me though! I had a w8 light from my old car which removed and fitted today. i had sprayed it black to match my old interior. Havent got around to doing my headlining in my new car yet but still wanted to fit my w8 light.

Looking good mate, hope you torqued up your spacers and wheel bolts tho,
Do you torque up the spacer bolts to the same as the wheel bolts?

Ive never had them personally or come across them at work but I should have thought so, if it was my car then I would do them the same as the wheel bolts to ensure they are tight but not over tight, after all they have to take the same strain and stesses as the wheel bolts.
