Called the insurers to let them know about my new wheels and they said "We're terribly sorry, but we can't insure you at all", and cancelled my policy. Nice.

Rang around and spoke to Steve Rush at Adrian Flux, got a quote for just over £700, which is cheap for me :), in fact far cheaper than I was paying with the other firm.

Well done guys, it appears that there is at least one sane firm in the insurance industry!

thats exactly what just happened to me!!

i'm also going with adrian flux now. £1770, sounds a lot compared to you but i've got no no-claims and one accident

bonus with them is that that actually replace mods like-for-like

I have been with them for a few years now - by far the cheapest for me.

The best bit about them is they only want to charge me an extra £100 to take my 150BHP 1.8T to near 200BHP with a miltek and Carbonio included [8D][8D][8D]

Wow! Thanx for the tip, I think I will be going with them come renewal time.

Im 22 and although I pay £750FC with Egg at the moment its a mod free policy, so I need to change. Flux quoted me £1,300 with 1 years NCB but with my company NCB (+4 years making 5 years) I could get a 50% discount.... £650 for a FC, mod friendly policy sounds good to me!!!

Just called them up, got a quote for £600 (or £820 if I do the occasional business trip 3k miles etc) with all mods declared [:D] so I'm well pleased! [:D]

Sounds reasonable as well if I ever go for a remap too... joy!

aaaagh!! adrian flux won't replace my clifford alarm. apparently secuirty additions aren't modifications.

that cost me a hell of a lot of money!!

also audio cover is only £500 and my excess would be £450

so in the event of it being taken i'd get £50 back for my £700 stereo system plus an extra claim on my record.

basically the only benefit would be the replacement of alloys if they got stolen

wish i had another option

GreenBeast - Do you not think that is an insane amount to pay for insurance!

carlos - yeah it is a lot of money and i'm now thinking more of elephant but the advantage of adrian flux is that they replace your mods which most companies (including elephant) don't.

however after i found out that stereo cover is only £500 and my excess is £450 and my audio system is worth £700.

so i'm gonna trust my clifford to protect my car and just hope i don't write any more cars off this year

Ive been with adrian flux for 4 years know never had a problem with them and always seem to be the cheapest aswell, ive never made a claim through them although my girlfreind has and she said they were excellent, they helped her alot and the claim was sorted in a decent time.

They stole your alarm system? Now that really IS unlucky! Sorry about that mate [:(]

Which reminds me, I'll have to check what the excess for my quote was, just hope it's not too high!

The bloke i spoke to at flux said the excess is the same £400 across the board, but then the quote is £300 cheaper than anyone else, so best bet is not to have a claim!!! easier said than done[:O]
