I suppose it down to what handset you have and if you want a cradle or not.

I have the Sony Erricson HBC-30 connected via the music mute to the HU. Very quick to install and work a treat with both Nokia and SE bluetooth, I think the Nokia kits only work the Nokia handsets.

For the best deals have a look at;

I wouldnt have one bolted to me head like some people, I see that as very stupid 2.4ghz radio parked right next to your skull but as a means of having a future proof car kit not a problem.

so long as i can turn it off when no in use.

I've just fitted a Nokia CK7W into me Touran. Works a bloody treat and gives you the option of a cradle (comes with Nokia Pop-Port cable for charging/wired hands-free) and also Bluetooth built-in. I use a Nokia 6230 BTW and bought the kit from www.siocommunications.co.uk

The Nokia CK-7W works a treat in my van with a Samsung D500.

Im looking for a kit for the Golf now which will be compatible with my Samsung D500 and my wifes Nokia 6230.

Currently the Parrot 3100 looks to be the best of the current bunch but Im not sure where I would want the LCD screen mounting.

Has anybody got one? Where did you mount your screen?

apparantly the parrot 3100 doesnt work fully with the samsung d500. the LCD display doesnt display the caller ID.

I too am looking for a kit for the d500, is the CK-7W decent? can it automatically mute the car stereo etc?

My CK-7W wired through the radio (speakers + mute) in the Golf had a very bad echo when used with my Motorola V525, so much so that it was practically useless. I've now changed my phone to a Nokia 8910i and it works perfectly though. Also works fine with a 6230 so maybe it is only compatible with Nokia handsets.

I would also like to know compatibility with the D500 as I was thinking about this as my next phone when my contract's up for renewal in April.

I have a CK-7W which I use the bluetooth fuction for my work mobile (6310i) and my personal phone in the pop port connect crade (6100) they both work a treat and the quality is excellent, I have also had my mates T610 paired up and the quality was spot on.

Mine has auto mute feature through the standard gamma head unit after a call has ended after about 5secs the stereo kicks back in.

Thanks Gary, good to know it works. Like tdiman I read on the net that there was the echo problem with this as well, which made me very wary after my experience with the Motorola. Maybe yours is a later firmware which fixes this problem or something. I'll not be upgrading til April so the chances are it'd be the newer firmware I'd get.

Sony Ericsson's NEW Hcb-300 (replaced the hcb30)

One of the few bluetooth kits that can allow upto 4 (or is it 5??) bluetooth phones paired to it.

benefit? - means that if you share the car with another person (say wife) and they also have a bluetooth phone, they can also use the bluetooth kit too. No need to repair the kit to the phone each time.

Very useful indeed.

I dont think the Nokia kits do this yet (only their 610 kit does, but that only works with certain nokias anyway)

ok just fitted the Parott CK3100, paired with my samsung d500.

plug and play with my gamma stereo, connects to the phone no problems, sound quality is excellent, caller Display works when you receive a call. ONLY thing is the phonebook is not automatically transferred from the d500 to the kit. Also when I try to send contacts manually the phone cant find the kit.

this is a bug with the samsung apparantly. the way to get round it is to send the contacts to the kit using another bluetooth device (laptop or another kind of phone), then when you pair the d500 the contacts are there!
