I have posted a list of phones in another thread. I think its:

Nokia: 6100,6200,6220,6230,6610,6610i,7210,7250,7250i,6210,6310,6310i.

Siemens: C55,M55,S55 C45,ME45,S45,S45i,M50,MT50,

Sony Ericsson: T610,T630.

Motoraola:V300,V525,V600

nut may have been updated as this was in March when I ordered my car. Yes its hands-free - you use the steering wheel buttons, but me and another forum member both have problems with our Nokia's rattling in the cradle. The sound quality is fine.

In Australia the dealers don't seem to have much idea about the phone function on the steering wheel and there is no cradle available do any of you guys know the part number for the cradle. Also where does it fit, the centre console looks pretty crowded and how difficult is it to connect .Any info on the phone facility would be usefull because all we get is buttons on a steering wheel and blank looks from the dealers.[ip]

I was under the impression that the factory fit prep located the handset next to the drivers door instead of a little cubby.  No offence meant but that phone install looks like a regular phone installer shoved it in.

I am going on what the manual says.  My company has been done over in the past, we ordered OEM sat nav and got a tv glued to the top of the dashboard, with the system unit sitting loose in the boot with bare wires all over the place.  Take a look in your manual, it clearly states where the phone prep goes.

I'm still confused as in the highline computer bit in the manual, it says that there is an ability to change the settings on the telephone. When I go into the computer, there is no option for telephone and the manual says that it only appears if the 'phone is a factory fit..

errrr ? Is this another " only in Germany " thing ??

That looks quite neat!!!!

A couple of questions:

Is there a separate microphone that you speak into?

Does it use the car's loudspeakers for the voice at the other end?
I think that the microphone is by the interior lights, next to my sunroof controls - it is built in so no seperate wires. Yes, the sound comes through the speakers, infact the stereo mutes before the phone rings !!

I've got a pinout for the radio (from erWin), as well as a pinout for
my phone (Nokia 7210) and a spare hands free headset I can hack
up. I'd love to rig a cable up so I can interface with this but
I'm not sure if the mic is installed in my car. Is it fitted to
all Golfs or just ones with the phone prep ticked?

Cheers,

Tim

IMO it is a complete waste of money, the cradle is huge and ugly and the kit costs a fortune.

I use a 6310i and fitted the following

Nokia Cark 91 car kit ?38 (brand new off e-bay)
Autoleads interface cable ?24 (brand new off e-bay)

Dashmount bracket ?8

Tax disc antenna ?12

Fitting ?50

So the total cost was ?132!!! and there was no drilling, no cutting of wires and the
complete kit links up with the factory fit stereo, muting it and
alowing you to adjust the volume, balance and fader whilst you are
taking or making a call, (the sound goes through all speakers) the
sound quality is first class.
