I've just been to the manufacturers of the Target LRC100 Laser Diffuser for a brief test with their on-site laser gun.

They fired it at me whilst stationary from around 5 meters away, the buzzer and internal LED went crazy whilst it did its job of diffusing the signal.

Then they performed a test from around 30 meters or so away whilst I was driving towards them, it did exactly as it was supposed to do - it diffused the signal for 5 seconds (gun unable to get a speed reading) then automatically switched off whilst the gun obtained a reading which in real lift should keep a police laser gun operator happy.

One thing to note is that the laser attachment for my Origin B2 did not register the laser signal, I would have been non the wider if that had happened roadside until the fine dropped through the letterbox.

I chose the LRC100 over the Snooper version as its quite a bit more discreet.

I'll upload some pictures of the fitted item when I get chance over the weekend.

Nice to hear Gary.

I was also advised to hardwire the LRC100 rather than hook it upto the B2, so thats what I did.

I wonder did you test it over a distance greater than 30metres? cause I hear that police can track your speed from well over 1/4 mile with laser guns... wonder if it still jams at that distance?

Oh, and how did the led/buzzer warn you? does it bleep and buzz like crazy for 10 secs or something?

No, it was a small Industrial estate where they are situated so 30 meters was about as far as I could get.

I also had the LRC100 wired directly to the B2 but I was worried about minimal feedback from the unit as all the B2 provides is power IIRC.

The buzzer and LED just sounded and flashed like crazy for the time of diffusion (5 seconds).

I've also fitted the switch under the dash so I can leave it off then arm it when I choose.

I now feel like I have a lot of confidence in the whole B2 / LRC100 system (more than I did anyway!!)

I'll email Comtech Products and question them with regards to the usful range of the LRC100 and get back to you.

I've just spoken to Comtech who have confirmed that the Police use gun which are effective up to 1.5 miles away.

He told me if the laser is strong enough to hit the car from that distance then the diffuser will still do its job.

He told me what it actually does is makes the gun think you are for example 1000m behind, then 500m in front etc - moving all the time which results in the gun registering an error.

I'll try and sort some pictures out tomorrow for you.

I doubt Comtech actually install but it is quite easy.

Hi Gary,

Where have you placed the transponder?

Did it take long to install and is there guide how to fit in the golf? Or would it be expensive for it to be installed by a shop?

As I need to get one now I've been Revo'd [:D]
