I have a defective OEM 1J0959654AP and these are quite expensive at present on eBay, I have found an OEM 1J0959654AC for alot cheaper but I'm not sure if they are compatible.

I'm aware of variants AP/AC/AG/BK and it does seem it's superseding parts but wanted to confirm before purchase.

3rd party ones fit all 4 variants but their own single part number. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just as a double check, has yours been confirmed as defective? You can get a steering angle sensor code thrown when your alignment is out.
Definitely defective, measuring block shows no degrees change when turning the wheel, also swapped with a second car but had to swap back as it was being sold

Do you have ABS fault codes?
Address 03: ABS Brakes Labels: 1C0-907-37x-ESP-F.lbl
Part No: 1C0 907 379 M
Component: ESP FRONT MK60 0102
Coding: 0019970
Shop #: WSC 01266 785 00200
VCID: 346318E32EAB

2 Faults Found:
00778 - Steering Angle Sensor (G85)
005 - No or Incorrect Basic Setting / Adaptation
00778 - Steering Angle Sensor (G85)
014 - Defective

i have swapped the Steering angle sensor with another one and the fault goes away, however i have had to return this and reinstall my old one so it's definitely the problem. As mentioned above the measuring block also does not show a change of state when turning the steering wheel and this changed when i installed the other one i had to return.

I have purchased the 1J0959654AC so im hoping there are no issues with swapping it to replace the 1J0959654AP

If you have ABS faults you won't get a reading, that's why I asked... If you swapped it and it works then it's obviously dead. I'd try to keep the PN's the same but it'll probably be okay.
